What amuses me is that they bag players for their inadequacies (Pearce has nothing but the bomb, his long kicking game is terrible, all his kicks go straight to the fullback) but then when their favourite gets a crack, the same short comings are seen as a godsend!

Yep and TBH mate Mortein put in a PearceOrf like performance IMO.

Threw some sweet balls, bombs were generally well placed, defended well other than the Barbara try but that bloke could burn anyone and played tough. His short kicking game isn't any better or worse than PearceOrfs.

Where PearceOrf is better is the longer kicking game. Mortein doesn't seem to generate anywhere near the distance PearceOrf mostly will.

Look Mortein did a great job. No better than PearceOrf has mostly done to help us to third spot this year so far.

But everyone here loves a Newbie. I'm sure before seasons end we will see a.sack Mortein thread.

I agree with you wholeheartedly. Mortimer doesn't possess a long kicking game at all. We were fortunate we had good go forward all night and didn't have to rely on our kicking game to get us out of trouble.

Mortimer has a very good game, but I have seen Pearce put in a similar performance and not get anywhere near the recognition.

I've said it all year, especially when the preseason crazies had him playing for The Siberian Wolves.

Every them needs a Maubs.

Can slot in anywhere and you always know what you're gonna get, that bloke who will make heaps of tackles, miss very few, rarely make an error or give away a penalty, the ability to scrap for anything loose and best of all can slice thru a hole and score a great try or two.

I havn't seen the replay on tv, but at the game our attack seemed to be set much deeper than usual, the boys seemed to have a lot more time with their plays making the big dogs forwards run more. I dunno what the penalty count was but we didn't conceed many.
