  • RTS's break vs Manly

Can someone explain to me why that wasn't a prefessional foul? He was held down until the Chip Stealers had their defensive line set while he was held down. Why wouldn't that be ten in the bin?

If it happened later in the game it would have been sin binned which is crap. Same with Watmough being offside by about 3 metres when we had the ball in their twenty towards the end. They weren't afraid to make a big call against us though. I wonder why

because, the refs are corrupt to be against us, we are not supposed to win at brookvale and because the nrl and news limited and everybody but rooster fans is in on a plan to see us suffer at the bottom of the ladder never to see a winning penalty count again.

I think the explanation was that B.lawrence had enough players behind the ball after the taken was made to have it not constitute as a professional foul

That was what the commentators said, I think we all heard that, but the point is that he delibrately held the player down to give his defensive line time to set. It was a deliberate act, a professional foul, to slow down the play the ball. Two passes wide we could have scored. Warren Smith is no judge, nor an expert on the rules of the game.

No.. the commentators said that was the referee's explanation.
Its a simple penalty.....just like when martin kennedy or jake friend hold down a player most tackles and give stupid penalties

I just watched it again, unless Cecchin is a ventriloquist he did not say that. Smith talked all the way through it.

Wazza? Mate of yours is he?

It is inconsistent with many decisions you will see in a game of football over many years.

If it can be defined as "a deliberate breach of the rules in order to prevent a scoring opportunity", it is not as you put it 100% correct.

It is infuriating to see inconsistent application of the rules of the game. Had it been 16-14 with ten to go you can almost guarantee it'd be a sin bin. In this context it is indeed a professional foul. If that is the case, and it was, then the only option is the sin bin.

it seems consistent to me....players never get binned for slowing the play the ball down unless there is a certain number of there players still offside.and any breach of rules during a game commited by the defence is " to prevent a scoring opportunity".thats what all 26 players on the fields intentions are..to score a try....as "RABS" says to "GUS" ,( nah They're not my mates either), argue with the rule book

Yep absolutely Fairfax we got the rough end of the pineapple with that decision as we did with Watmough knocking ball out of Maloneys hand,Ballin putting 1 across the chops of Guerra.
