  • Just a few things...

After the Canberra loss some people were saying if we can win at least 4 of the next 6 games then it'll show us where our team is at and they'll be happy or 'convinced' that we're the real deal. (Dragons, Dogs, Penrith, Manly, Cowboys, Storm) Well we've already won 4 of those with no losses. So far so good

Secondly, out of curiosity, How did SKD 'transform' from an attacking weapon and defensive liability, to a attacking liability and a defensive wall?

Thirdly, I hope this is just a coincidence, but this is 2 weeks in a row where all our tries have been flukes. (Not including about 1 or 2 tries last week). Yesterday our first try was luck and our second was a lucky dice roll. I know our defense is good but we have to work on attacking structures. We also must work on kick defense, our defense is a brick wall but it seems to stay that way during a kick and they kick it over our wall. (Metaphorically) That's how I see it.

And lastly, we need to fix up our ball control and penalties. We can't keep giving away stupid penalties.. Especially when the opposition are pinned in their 20, the worst thing to do is piggyback a team into our territory, we're lucky Manly also played crappy because a good team on a good day would've destroyed us yesterday. Yes our defense is good but there's only so much it can take before it gets pierced by a good team playing well.

you raise some good points there, JJ.
firstly, i'll be the first to admit I said I would be happy if we won four of the next 6 games. and I am happy! what would make me even happier is if we to win atleast 1, if not both of our next 2 games going into the bye.
secondly, SKD is the definition of rocks and diamonds. I don't think ill be able to take it for much longer. once his current contract is up, he has to go. even under Robbo, SKiD still has '09 traits in him.
thirdly, the only fluke try I can think of is the bomb bounce vs panthers last week. every other try is something you see every week, just not in every roosters game. How many times have we seen an opposition player (even Jennings) scoop up a loose ball and run the length? it happens. another thing you'll notice is that the majority of tries we have conceded from kicks have been chips/bombs directed at SKD. Not RTS right on the wing, but a little bit infield to SKD. Examples include last night, against the dragons, against the warriors and against the rabbitohs where I think they scored two tries from SKD errors.
lastly, youre exactly right there. field position inevitably means points. classic example against Canberra. discipline has improved, or maybe its just a side-effect of defence, but as long as we score more points....

Just juice you have a very unusual read on games...a lot of tries that you call flukes make up the majority scored in NRL these days.

Its about being in position and giving yourself the chances and taking some. The best teams do it best.

We are playing winning football that has opposing teams asking how the hell can they beat us? Just enjoy the ride.

Had SKD defended well against Matai the Eagles would have remained scoreless, it's a game of inches and luck does create a part.

SKD is not a wall and had Cordner caught the simplest of passes from Pearce that wouldn't have been a fluke try, that would have been good attacking rugby league.

Jeez listening to some on here you'd think we're coming 2nd last not 2nd, & that we'd lost 7 from 9 not won 7 from 9.

Some people are just never satisfied.

As has already been said, just enjoy the ride.

That's how it was supposed to be.. But SKD gave him a clear passage.. He basically rolled out a red carpet for Matai to get to the ball.

i dont agree on that one, rts had a clear shot at the ball and matai got it off him. if skd deviated it wld of been a penalty anyway. good effort from matai.

Exactly. How you can blame a centre running backwards with the ball for not catching it with his winger coming straight at it is beyond me. SKD deviates on his run as blocker it's a crowd penalty waiting to happen.
