Um, he's actually been out there and played? City v Country should be for fringe players to give them a taste of rep footy and to experience playing with others apart from their own team mates to see how quickly they can adapt. It should not be for players who've had previous Origin experience. How are we supposed to groom the next generation of Origin players as these ones are clearly not to the liking of some of you on here.

There looks to have been at least a couple of players reject their C v C selection as an insult instead of being selected in the Test squad or is that just my take on it?

#CvC City: Jarryd Hayne, Robbie Farah, Chris Lawrence & Aaron Woods OUT. Nathan Peats, Joel Reddy, James Tedesco and Adam Cuthbertson IN.

Add Josh Reynolds to the list, he's out with Curtis Sironen in.

Given the number of pull outs, the game serves no purpose at all. The standard will be lower than that of a first grade game.

Through rep footy players can earn around an extea 50k a year which in turn increases their club value when contract negotiations come up.

99% of the players love playing rep footy IMO & no coach should stand in the way.

Yeah I have always looked forward to these games, just because I've watched them since I was a kid & well it's Rugby League! But it really does look like this year the coaches & clubs are treating it as if it was a mid-week Amco cup match, can anyone tell me why the City & Country medical teams are not the ones who are ruling in & out players? If they are selected to represent, then it should be left up to the rep doctors to decide, if it's left up to the club medicos, then it's become a farce!

I agree but there maybe a loop hole that clubs now exploit due to NRL teams win at all cost attitude & the loop hole might be that a club can have their doctor examine a player post game & rule them out as if there was no rep game coming up the next week?

I think a lot of it is players pulling out who can't train all week with the squad.

For example if you have a minor problem where you won't train till Friday and there is even a slight chance you can't play after that well I'm guessing the rep coaches want a full squad fit and training all week. Whereas for a club game you have combos etc and its not as much disruption for a player or two to sit out all week and then decide close to a game if they are fit or not. That happens most weeks at every club anyways.

I'd say for a Test or Origin players will be given more time, especially established ones. But for Chitty vs Carntry I'd be guessing there is less on the line and players will be ruled out or rule themselves out quicker.

                    You know it makes sense.
