Agree with you all. Our dummy-half play has improved dramatically under Robinson. He has created a situation where there is a healthy competition between Morts and Friend. Friends second spell was huge, no doubt motivated by a strong showing from Morts. Actually we seem stronger across the board. Sonny Bill in all his interviews after the game spoke of the importance of the 1% plays.

Pearce was also brilliant tonight imo in all aspects. took complete control of the game which allowed maloney to pick and choose and perform the way he did
He has copped some flack on here but rightly so. That second stint of his last night was the best I have seen him in at least two years. Even at the start of the game last night, he looked a bit slow out of dummy half. Mortimer really sparked up our attack when he came on and was electric out of dummy half.

I think that the grubber kick may add another dimension to Jake's game in attack. Very effective, especially when you have some really fast men on the outside.

It's been a while since I've seen a short kick like that from Easts.

        It was a beauty.

I've been big on giving Friend a bucketful for some time now. But I have to admit that his performances these past few weeks have surprised me & give him credit for what he's done.

I said it in the other thread.

Friend is like Pearce, the talent is there. It's just a matter of making the right decisions under pressure.

I think we are seeing the benefits of having other players in the team who can actually play and a coach that can actually coach.

Sure the new boys are aiming up but for me the best thing is finally the old boys have some support and some structure to play to.

PearceOrf, Maubs and Friendly are in particular showing these benefits IMO.

Many called it "excuses" but most of their carrers in 1st grade they have been trying to play with blokes who are shit and play under coaches who have struggled to use them correctly. They have been badly developed in comparison to a lot of blokes who have come thru other clubs. Imagine a Reynolds coming thru under our clubs mess in the last 7 or so seasons???

Best part is we have plenty of improvement left in us IMO.

I had to slip my boy in there maaaaaaaaaaaaate.

All they have needed is someone to follow, someone to mentor them. They've had Bwaiff their whole careers.

2010 was a glimpse of what was possible with some of them. Now I believe we will see them reach their potential.

Starting to respond to a better coach just as Pearce is.Thats all

Alfredo will be having wet dreams.

Your dad has just phoned his shrink to book an extra session.....something to do with rejection & disappointment.

Dad can still hold a clipboard maaaaaaaaaaate, you seen those Brumbies go???

I think it's fair to say 2010 was his last chance in RL. He can still coach but I reckon the games moved past the older minds in general now. Someone the other day was saying how the new coaches dig all the social media and media hype. They have grown up in the era, they don't fear the science etc.

Barring Waynekerr the older coaches are falling by the wayside. As has happened in all the eras of past.

AlFredo is sharpening those knives for when we lose a few straight.

Yep, agreed. A lot of it is being able to associate with how the players live & feel. Your dad is just too far past it now maaaaate.
Say hi to him & thank him for the cleaning he did for us. Wish him all the best in the Yawnion gig.

Back on Jake.....it looks as tho less tackles & interchange are the way to go. I think that TR is onto what is needed.
It's been 2 years since I saw Jake play like he did last night. Fitness, attitude, hunger to succeed & confidence in your team mates around you.

Brings a tear to the eye.
                          Sniff.

I'm only crying cos it's farking raining again. Down at the kids footy this morning I got drenched. But they won well so my tears were ones of joy.

I ran into a bloke who I have a running bet with when we play the Boggs. Lets just say he was doing all the crying this time.

I love rain but its a geeup the last few months.

Just got the car re-tinted yesterday. They said its best to leave it out in the sun for a week or two to dry properly. I just smiled at the bloke when he mentioned sun. Ignorant.
