  • Mini's run on Sunday

I'm hearing a lot of Mini bashing on here lately.

Anybody got a video of Mini's big run on Sunday night? He stepped a lot of players, threw some excellent dummy passes and got awfully close to scoring out of nowhere.

To me Mini's a good player who is secure under high balls and can still run. Yes he dropped 1 crucial high ball, but he had a solid game. Lots of big runs, lots of safe catches and squared it off with a try.

Putting it our there... why lay into a legend who's putting himself out there and playing decent footy?

    ---

PS - I'm the guy who nearly got his head kicked in for yelling out "GOOOOO DUUUUUGSIE!!!!" in amongst all the Raiders gold members at the start of the game when the announcer was talking up the #1 jersey.

On that note the Raiders' etiquette was cow poo!!!!
    - Good seats but the Roosters fans were seeded in amongst Raiders gold members (so while we had a big contingent, it was nullified completely by die hard Raiders fans.)
    - The Roosters NEVER got announcements. Even when we scored I was expecting a smug "James Maloney has scored for the Roosters!!!" Nup... nothing, just "boooo that's not fair!!!" from the crowd.
    - We came on first for both halves with no announcement so it was hard to cheer the boys on.
    - In the last minute the clock wasn't stopped for any penalties/wasted time. This gave us 15 seconds instead of a minute to construct a last gasp try.
    - All the Raiders fans kept yelling "get off him!!!" regardless of the play. Do they even know what it means? (I doubt it.)

I guess it gave them a good fortress, but I felt the etiquette was all wrong (not blaming the outcome on that and I know others are worse... just having a whinge.)

I thought if Mini had of passed the ball a bit sooner we had a better chance of scoring. I thought he gave the defense too much time to regroup.

Mate .. I never want to see Mini pass. I love him .. but our skipper has the worst pass in the NRL, as exemplified by his "pass" to Oldfield that went into touch.

        1. Mini is well past it as a fullback, but still has the physical attributes to be a magnificent winger.I would actually hate to see him retire instead of play on the wing for us this season and maybe next.

        2. Blaming mini alone for last nights loss, is as big a stretch as suggesting that Tony Abbott will win the election because he is a good leader.
        Comment of the year:

Andrew Johns, Semi-Final vs North Queensland ,

"It's touched Lui's hand and travelled forward but that's not a knock on"

Not that he was to blame for our loss as that was a team effort but he's not putting himself out there for free he is getting well compensated for his efforts.

The problem I see is that he is no longer as secure as he once was. Added to the issues he has with the bouncing ball and his inability to pass the football and he is no longer up to it as an NRL fullback. Would be a very handy winger though cause he has the knack of being able to get across the line.

That very low pick up of sbw for the try was pretty good. And I think he took a pretty spectacular bomb at around the 20 pretty soon after. I think right now he's the best option. Last nights lose was a team effort I think.

He needs to learn how to tackle. Whenever there is a linebreak he either misses/does some jumpy awkward tackle attempt, also needs to learn how to pass. But still a legend trying hard for the team

You think he will learn to pass now after 13 years in First grade? Haha..

It was a good catch by Mini. But how quickly some forget. How many simple passes has Edward Scissorhands put down over the last couple of seasons particularly from Pearce putting him through a gap? He catches one pass in two years and he has plenty to offer. He is good under the bomb but that's it. Can't break the line. Can't field a grubber. Regularly out of position when defending on our line. Can't pass to save his life. All vital in the modern day fullback. Let RTS gain the experience and have Mini on the wing if he must be in the team. I prefer he did a Piggy and realise he's past his used by date.

No way, Mini had one good run?

At this rate come the end of the season we might even be able to put a highlights clip together for him.

I am a big fan of having mini playing on the wing. He is still a good finisher, good at taking attacking bombs and defusing opposition bombs... all while putting him at the end of the backline instead of in the middle.
Would also be interesting to see if his experience would help our defence out wide.
Rts would not only threaten off kick returns, but his ball playing ability would be good for backline moves. ..

Some of you guys must borrow Mini's glasses when looking at the game. There's no other explanation as to why you cannot see the massive liability he has become. As an NRL fullback Mini is a stepless, passless, speedless, useless waste of a position.

Tedesco for the Tigers is coming back from a knee reco, is in his second year in first grade and playing on the wing and is a 1000% better fullback than Mini who is in his 13th year in first grade.

                          Chook.
