He's playing some decent footy now that he's over that shoulder injury. Not sure he's worth $300k on the open market though.

Titans wanted him this season whilst he is under contract. We didn't need to let him go. He is off contract at the end of this season so it won't be as easy to keep him.

I think that it's pretty inevitable that SBW will be gone in 2 years max, if not at the end of this year. He has made it clear that he wants to play for the all blacks again. Bosden is iffy with regards to his injury. Taka, cherro and symmonds are all gone. Guerra and Boyd seem like the only sensible options we will have if Aubo leaves.

I do rate aubo and I think that his game has improved this season both in attack and defence. Last season Smithy screwed his mind over by switching him from backrow to centre every 5 minutes. Aubo does a lot of the work that goes unnoticed. He plays heaps of minutes, occasionally breaks open the fringe defense of the opposition and makes crucial tackles on some outside backs when SKD misses them in defence. I think he would be ok for 300k. If I were uncle nick , I wouldn't lose any sleep over paying him that much tbh.

My thoughts exactly but who would play lock?

All we have are players who play on the fringes of the ruck. We need someone who can play in the middle as an extra front rower and make heaps of tackles. I've always been a fan of us developing Jake Friend to play that role. Even if he doesn't make as many metres, he can make heaps of tackles in defence, he rarely gives away penalties and he can fill in at dummy half occasionally. I would love him to develop into a Stagg/Fensom/hinchcliffe type of player at lock. I think that we are lacking a genuine worker at lock since fitzy retired. If we had someone like that, it would free up SBW and Aubo/cordner from making too many tackles and allow them to be involved more in attack.

If it takes $300 k or over too keep him, then I say no, he's not worth that to us. Sure he is going ok so far, but he is his own worse enemy, he's too small to be an effective second rower, and too slow to be an effective centre, we can pick up a good one for that amount of money.

I reckon maubs is worth every cent. he came along in leaps and bounds in 2010 when smiffy moved him from centre to second row. he has improved from last year and looks set for a solid, if not good season.
