  • Cordner charged with tripping from round 2 against warriors

The NRL has handed a notice of charge to Sydney Roosters player Boyd Cordner following Saturday night's match against the NZ Warriors.

Cordner has been charged with 'Grade 1 Tripping' and under NRL rules has until midday tomorrow to enter a plea.

An early guilty plea will result in 56 Carry Over Points, while if he contests the charge and is found Guilty he will receive 75 Carry Over Points. Either result will allow Cordner to play in the Round 3 clash with the Brisbane Broncos.

might as well fight it and try and get off. 50 or 70 points makes no difference.

Can anyone even recall where this may have occurred?

Yeh it was in the second half, didn't look intentional live.

I vaguely remember it looking like one of our players had tried to trip a Warrior. But at the time I assumed our player had slipped (and he didn't even get close to the Warrior).

        Must've been Boyd.

I agree - may as well fight it!

if he is going to be out injured anyway the club might decide to fight it, he didn't look real crash hot when he was taken off on saturday night, you could judge by the warriors players reaction that there must have been a crack/pop heard when Cordner went down.

Have Easts released who is injured and who is not?.

I am concerned with both Boyd Cordner and RTS. Late in the game RTS was wincing after an awkward tackle?.

As for the charge, i'd agree that the club should fight it if he is going to be out anyway.

trip is used more as a way of wrestling people rather than tackling them. im surprised there haven't been many broken legs...

I see peoples legs get caught up in a mash of bodies and wince at the thought they could break it. I hope they get up and 99.99% of the time they do. broken legs are horribly painful.

If it's an accident so be it but.....

If Mini was the tripper you'd all be begging for his suspension.

Be interesting to see what Merritt gets for his shoulder charge tonight. No effort to put the arm around, if anything cocked his arm. Looked close to making contact with the head.

If mini had tried to trip someone he would have tripped himself up.

                              Chook.
