  • Were we lucky or cheated?

    Saturday night...

We won by 2 points because Johnson missed an easy conversion from right in front. I was watching with my fiancee (who's new to the sport) and said "you never miss kicks like this unless you're an idiot... he'll get it easily." He then bashed it off somewhere silly.

This won us the game but got me thinking...

We had 2 tries disallowed (at least 1 of which I think could have been a try) and I felt ripped when one of their big coconuts kicked on... we then tried to gather it (and fumbled) then they got the ball. This led to their 2nd try with me thinking "we were robbed and this could cost us the game!!!"

I'm not complaining too much because we got the 2 points but... we still have a significantly negative PD, and I feel we were robbed a little. The refs tried their best to give the Warriors the game and it was only their own stupidity (from Reynolds' personal kiwi double) that gave us the 2 points.

Sure... it was also our fault for letting our guard down but am I tripping? I think I'd be quite angry at the refs if we had lost...

The kick whilst awful was much closer to the sideline than the goalposts

Jennings was a dead set try

Right in front, you're kiddin? Mate get yourself to OPSM, that wasn't the easiest of kicks (however he should have kicked it). We won because we defended well in the first half. The second half was average at best.

I felt we were cheated by the refs. I don't understand how Jennings try was disallowed. It clearly shows him getting the ball down before going into touch. Also, since when the fark do they overturn decisions. That one really got my blood boiling. How many wrong decisions have there been and they have never overrule in, we always complain the refs are against us, and now they overturned a decision out of our favor. Yeah, the original decision was wrong but they haven't overruled a decision in how long? And it had to be in our game and the decision had to be against us. It's no wonder people think the refs fark us over every game. I don't blame them.

And Johnson's miss was just a pressure crack on his part, unlucky for them, lucky for us.

The last 3 penalties against us were rubbish. The ref did all he could to get them home bar scoring himself.
The officials lost their money to betfair yesterday.

the jennings no try was fair enough for me, where your saw he clearly got it down im not sure.

As for the reversal of the scrum, Like what they said on broadcast yesterday it was lucky that whoever had the tv rights for the game got the replays up quickly for the refs to see it quick enough to overturn the decision

Coincidence it had to happen in a game that close and the decision go against us after all the sh*t we've received from refs over the years. When was the last decision to be overruled before yesterday? I would like to know.

i only remember line goal dropout decisions getting overturned cos they have a bit of time to check it out, if they can get it right like that consistantly id be all for it.

My personal favourite of the night was the rubbish piggy back penalty against Pearce when it was 16-10

There was a knock-on call against Warriors just outside their try-line. After blowing his whistle and calling a scrum for us, he suddenly changed his mind while the scrum was almost done and decided it was a Warriors scrum after watching the replay.

Mind you this was in the last 10 mins when the game was at it's most crucial.

Shame those people were not in charge in Rd 1 when mini dropped it( not unusual) yet kicked it before it hit the ground, maloney picked up and scored beside the posts, that was with more than 10 to go, with momentum starting to swing in oyr favour, from then it was all downhill.

For the Pearce haters, it was his great chase that led to the try being scored wide and not going into OT.

I agree Pearce needs work still, particularly his dreadful short kicking game, but we need to give him a chance in this new system with better players.

At the end of the day tho, he showed great pace on that chase. Without it, then yes the kick woulda been from right in front.

When he grubbers for a repeat set, he needs to grubber for the tryline, not 5 yards into it. Then he will find the ball pulls up short of the deadball line most of the time.

My only issue with the Jennings try was why it was sent up. I felt the touch judge thought Jennings went into touch, and this was the reason for a no try being ruled by the on ground ref. which was an incorrect call on his part.

I like the refs taking the brunt of the calls and the video ref having to find evidence to overturn it, much better than the feather touch benefit of the doubt calls in the past.
