  • does trent robinson = brian smith?

is anyone else concerned that the roosters attacking structure looks very similar to brian smiths ineffective style. No decoy runners, flat line outs, short flat suicide passes. It only induces errors because the ball receiver is under so much pressure. It appears we wasted out money on jennings because even i can tackle him when he recieves the ball at half speed. All the contenders in this competition use decoy runners and line out very deep. The rabbitts destroyed the roosters with the same style that everyone else uses. We are so shallow on the last tackle our kickers have no time to take a few steps and put in a decent kick. Roosters will finish with the wooden spoon and a new coach if they dont change their attacking style. The players are trying very hard but the tactics are rubbish.

I suspect he took something from his days with smithy and other coaches he has worked with...and that's not a bad thing.

But give it a bit more time before making judgments on styles and patterns.

Well structure was there for the first 10 min
Then again they fell back into there old ways
Penalties/ drop balls / no go forward

Its hard when the players come up with sh** like that

Oh well it is just round 1 lets c what happens agains the warriors !!!!

Yeah especially close to the line in attack it was the same rubbish Smiths sides dished out,Friends flat balls hitting no one.

What Robbo is doing here with the flat attack line is what he did at Catalans. Give it some time for the team to get some cohesion and continuity and player movement and pass selection will be on the money. Cue try after try when we click.

I don't agree with the smith comment but even for those first 20 mins I thought are structure was too simple. Not enough decoys and second and third man plays. If we are goi to be play a boring predictable flat line we at least need inside runners

I've got no problem with what doc rooster said in the opening post. The Roosters definitely fell into old bad habits but I'm not going to hang them out to dry just yet. It will be interesting to see how they fare against the warriors because the warriors weren't good against the eels yesterday.

But that's just it. There shouldn't be old habits because we have a whole lot of brand new expensive celebrity recruits...
If we are still playing badly by say, round 20, then by all means get the knives out...You'll find them in the kitchen drawer alongside the wooden spoons....

Catalans used decoys and more complex set plays with Robbo. Not just flat lines.
