in a nutshell the referees managed to completly stuff up what could have been a very good game of football but was constricted continually at crucial times, to me this influence on the game result is as bad for the game as peptides! about time a number of refs were offered 6 months off?id one was a cynic then one may consider links to organised crime, betting and match fixing by referees?

Stop whinging. The refs didnt have a terrible game, we just got beaten fair and square. In fact I thought we were laying on the tackles a lot longer than we should have been and were lucky not to get penalised more.

bit harsh of Aubo the bloke hit some holes in attack unlike guerra who dropped tha ball, missed tackles and gave away penalty after penalty

Refs played excellently for Souffs. Only picking up one penalty against them in 60 minutes -that takes effort and commitment, well done.

Have you seen that Scott Woods youtube video about our chances this year (posted several times here) - he's pretty spot on. We lack one single potent playmaker. We have some good backs and forwards this year, but the "spine" positions are weak.

Mini does not break tackles, can't pass, is slow and gets in the way. Nobody is scared of him. In 2005 he could do anything from anywhere.

Maloney - an improvement on Anasta definitely, but a defensive liability

Pearce - not the go to man, and never will be. Nobody is scared of him.

Friend - tackles his arse off, but too small and slow to be a threat - makes one line break every 2 years.

Having said that, Souffs had nothing; without cheating Cummins and his mongo partner we would still have won in spite of our ineptitude.

It must be so desperately sad to have watched the game and come away with that opinion. I truly feel sorry for you

Personally I think there are some that may need to step up like MK, FPN, JJ & SKD. All these guys are supposed to be some of our most experienced impact weapons but last night hardly saw anything worth while. JJ hasn't learned anything from his kick on the 5th from the last few years and we may just hand the ball back to the other team on the last cause that's all it happens. Someone else, and not Friend, should be tried. Maloney, well other than scoring a try and missing a sitter, did bugger all. His line dropouts made me wish we still had...Anasta(am I allowed to mention his name?). RTS defence was bad. It may be a combo of himself and SKD but in the end he was well out of position. Not sure how some want him at FB at this level. Jennings, SBW & Moa did ok even in a new environment.

No mate, it's not. We were outplayed, and the better team won. The only penalty that was a mistake was the crocker one. You people that instinctively blame the ref are an embarrassment

There were a couple dodgy penalties, however we deserved 90% of them. Our lack of discipline has cost us for years and that trend continued last night! We were our own worst enemies!

Reason for the loss - Lack of discipline (penalties + poor ball control) and our right edge defense

TTW you can't blame the Refs whole heartedly , however given that each Penalty is a Momentum changer , due to weight of possession , count was 6-1 , 2 of which were incorrectly ruled strips/hand on the ball , brings it to 4-1 . Are Souths that good that the only penalty given was when Burges take off JJs head Off ?

I thought we were going well for 20m. I was feeling quiet confident. then we gave away 8 straight penalties ..... end of game. you cant win from there, no matter how good you are. And if the Referee wasn't so embarrassed , from having to dish out 8 straight penalties to Souths , he could of made it 10, by penalissing Moa a few times for his play the balls. Same old same ol' - illdicipline shit.

I thought JWH, Guerra, Mini, Maloney, Pearce, Moa, Mortimer, FPN, Tupou & Jennings all played well against quality opposition. Jennings was our best IMO.

Im not to disheartened with the loss mainly because I rate Souths as the team to beat this year. Very very well coached side. They are the new Storm.
