We still have to be some chance of a win this week?

  • #2
I reckon it would be funny if we win this week and the Juanfarkalls win also, still leaving us with the spoon.

    We deserve it.

      We deserve the spoon.
As much as I would love to see the guys send Fitzy off with a win, I don't want the rest of them to go out saying "atleast we didn't get the spoon".
They deserve to take nothing out of this season apart from embarrassment like us supporters have to.

I don't give an f about the rest of them, just like they don't give a f about anything. Fitzy does not deserve to retire from the NRL a wooden spooner. 2nd last is no achievement, but there would be a tiny bit of satisfaction imagine Sticky sitting there watching his old prop forward kicking the winning goals in his final game, to hand the guppies the spoon.

Neither does Freddie in my view... he's done a great job, and taken the blame for our crappy form/attitudes this season.

And... it's my team. I don't want to see my team get the spoon!

A win next Sunday would be enough to avoid it (If Cronulla lost) but if we were equal on points we'd get the spoon. Here's how the table is right now:
            15 Sharks 23 5 0 18 2 335 542 -207 14
            16 Roosters 23 5 0 18 2 366 649 -283 14
That is what will give us the spoon unless we win and Cronulla lose next weekend. We have scored 366 points but conceded 649 points, the most in the competition. Cronulla have scored the least (They have been unlucky). But we have conceded too many points. Even last year 7 of our losses were by 20 points or more. Our defence needs to tighten up.

I just can't see us getting past the Cowboys. They didn't have Thurston, Bowen, Tonga or O'Donnell the last time we played them and we still couldn't win.

If Jones is named in the centres again, I expect Tonga to run rings around him. Tonga has really found some of that old form this year. Plenty of classy touches, great speed too.

Yeh, he's taken a while to get back from his injuries, but he's always been a class player.

Fitzy certainly doesn't deserve the spoon, an absolute legend that puts in every week.

Fittler on the other had deservers it named after him, the spoon should now be known as the Fitler / Politis stick

Fathers Day on Sunday and I will be getting a wooden spoon....

Hope I am wrong. I am an eternal optimist. I reckon we can beat the Cowboys....that feeling may subside 4 minutes into the game....

How can Freddo do a great job but we have crappy form and attitudes???

Coaches are there to provide gameplans and attitude to the team. To help the team gel as a unit. To give direction to individuals and the team. To prepare them mentally and physically.

How can anyone honestly believe Freddo is not to blame for whats gone down on his watch???

We play like schoolkids. We lack direction on the field. We lack any variety in gameplan. We drop our heads and our bundle when a few decisions go against us. We cant compete physically or mentally for 40mins, let alone 80mins.

And IF the players are playing badly or not doing what the coach has set them to do, well its his job to drop them. Freddo hasnt done that, and dont make excuses about injuries, we were just as bad early in the year when we didnt have injuries.

Yeap, spot on stsae - the players are the truest reflection of the coach - and Freddo is a broken man, hence we have a team of broken players.
