  • Freddy back with the Roosters

good to hear the club is continuing to bring back "roosters people" to help build the culture and respect the tradition of the club.

Freddy is back at the club as a match day ambassador and also doing some work in marketing/sponsorship under Ted Helliar.

there is an interview with Freddy on the roosters website for those interested.

That's great news, so glad he's back in the fold, it was a very dark day in Easts history when he parted ways with us, for many reasons.

I personally believe Freddy still has a lot to offer as a coach. He may seem a little slow at times but geez he has one of the best football brains going around. Now that he has matured more and has more experience coaching in an assistance role I think he would make a very good offensive co-ordinator. Nonetheless its great to see him back involved with the club in any capacity.

Totally agree with this. I think the role of head coach and all that goes with it may be a little beyond him to be honest. Nonetheless he has plenty to offer in other capacities.

it was encouraging to hear his thoughts on the current team, he said the team was extremely fit which is a big turnaround from recent years.

also he made mention of the current vibe coming out of the club being extremely positive, its the same message that has been reported by many observers who have spent time around the club recently, makes for a nice change compared to the picture painted by Anasta about last year in recent interviews.

If there is a roosters fan who doesn't want freddy at our club in some sort of capacity, then there is something seriously wrong in this world.

Welcome oh great one, we are not worthy.
                Comment of the year:

Andrew Johns, Semi-Final vs North Queensland ,

"It's touched Lui's hand and travelled forward but that's not a knock on"

Ray Stehr will be in a fapping frenzy.

I'm glad he's back promoting and marketing the club, just as long as he stays away from any kind of coaching role.

                  Chook.

That's right.. I think he could be used for some one on one coaching with the halves on a consulting basis and to lend an ear to the coaching staff on occasion but not as a head coach. Just too many pressures.

Also people talk about the positive influence of having Fitzy around the team but don't underestimate the impact Freddy could have on a lot of our young players. Freddy is an absolute legend of the game and of our club. I honestly rate him as one of the best players I have ever seen and I think it would be a privilege to have him involved again.

Yeh yeh we're killing it in the off-season like all other 15 teams.
                            Bring on the real footy!

I agree as well. Looking back on his tenure, he introduced and pioneered some extremely inspiring game plans and plays. Problem for freddy is he was too immature at the time and wasnt quite able to keep it up. At times I felt like he thought he needed a unique never before done game plan for each week is unsustainable and impossible which eventually brought about his demise. That said, the use of the cross-bomb as a last tackle option as a genuine attacking option as well as the game plan he put together to beat the storm and kick away from slater spring to mind as innovations of his coaching style which still exist in the game today
