Where are the f'n Saturday and Sunday arvo games?

Luckily we live within walking distance of Henson Park so I can take my 3 boys down there for their footy fix and then maybe the odd night game at Allianz.
If you're a Rooster member you get into Henson for free so its a good arvo out, for sure.
I don't think I'll take thhe 3 year old to too many night games but the 8 year olds love the night games.
I prefer night games myself. Better atmosphere. You can see the fireworks. The hot dogs taste better for sure at night. you can't see the toe nails and camel snot that is mixed in with the dog....

If you're making a day of it and travelling for a fair distance, surely you could let your kids stay up for an extra two hours you sour ****.

Maybe I am an old grump but 3pm arvo footy was how I was brought up and I still prefer it. I would like my kids to have that opportunity at least a few times a year. After a week at work I am not keen to go anywhere on a Friday night apart from to the liquor cabinet to pour myself a stiff drink. My kids and wife crash early on Fridays which means it's drinking and footy time for Dad + drunken arguments on the Chookpen afterwards

I have the massive shits with the NRL for hardly scheduling any Saturday or Sunday afternoon games.

When I travel to Sydney to watch the games I like to make a day of it with my young kids and do some family friendly activities before-hand. Nearly every game is played at night after most kid's bed-times.

How is the NRL going to get the next generation of fans?

good question. The Swans certainly rate the concept of playing at least some games during daylight hours. In the constant search for more money, the NRL are as usual at the beck and call of the TV networks

I have a 10 and 8 yo too. Took them to their first night game last year against the vermin. Unfortunately we lost in the last minute and my 10yo boy was devastated. We'd traveled all the way from Canberra too. Next Wednesday we are going to the ODI cricket game here in Canberra as we NEVER get to see the Aus cricket team here in Canberra. Unfortunately school is also back next week so I'm going to have 2 very tired kids on my hands by the end of the week. But my boy can't wait. We'll be back in Sydney in late March too for The Royal Easter Show and I plan to go to a chook's night game then too. But It's only been in the last year or so that I've started to le them go to night games as before they were too young and it just stuffs up their schedule with school and extra activities like sport, swimming lessons, music lessons etc.

The beauty of Henson is that all the kids can get on the field at half time to kick the footy around and then after the game all the Jets players do a lap around the oval 'high-fiving' the kids along the fence. You get to see a few Roosters players and the beer is full strength at about $4.50c each.
Every home game is at 3pm on a Saturday arvo, even at the expense of getting the Fox televised games this year. I think the Jets only get 2 out of 20 televised games. Such is the dedication to the home ground fans and the good thing they have going with the local community. If you are able to get to a game you will definitely be back for more.
First home game is 23 March.

I'm with you Worthless, I spent the best part of last year trying to indoctrinate my little girl leading up to her debut on that glorious Sunday arvo smashing of the Tigers - where she had a ball.

Have been looking forward to sharing many more sunny, Sunday arvos at the stadium with her this year. Alas, I'll likely be going with Greedy's less-than-ideal plan.
