  • Where are the f'n Saturday and Sunday arvo games?

I have the massive shits with the NRL for hardly scheduling any Saturday or Sunday afternoon games.

When I travel to Sydney to watch the games I like to make a day of it with my young kids and do some family friendly activities before-hand. Nearly every game is played at night after most kid's bed-times.

How is the NRL going to get the next generation of fans?

If you're making a day of it and travelling for a fair distance, surely you could let your kids stay up for an extra two hours you sour ****.

Spoken like a man with no kids.

I'm with you Worthless, I spent the best part of last year trying to indoctrinate my little girl leading up to her debut on that glorious Sunday arvo smashing of the Tigers - where she had a ball.

Have been looking forward to sharing many more sunny, Sunday arvos at the stadium with her this year. Alas, I'll likely be going with Greedy's less-than-ideal plan.
Making Steve Naughton look like Vince Mellars...

Take her to Henson on a Saturday arvo, she will love it.

            Totally.

We went to 3 Newtown games (inc the finals) and we all had a great day. Leichhardt was the stand out.

Even disregarding the kids thing, daytime footy is way better.

              This is not good.

God help you if you ever have kids. It just doesn't work like that.

Very smart Walker. It would be considered child abuse to subject your child to Souths fans.

I'd rather have toys in my garage than my spare room.

Hey Grub...that was a great sequence of games...I attended them all too.

THe Leichhardt one where the Jets smashed their way through to the GF was brilliant.

                        Heartland footy stuff.

My kids were 8 and 10 last year and I took them to night footy, they loved the atmosphere, big lights etc.

When kids are young it's difficult taking them to night games, it's the after especially the travel home.

It's difficult for the parents, the kids have a ball. My two are night owls anyways, I'm lucky.

You may find the club wanted more night games, the whole Yuppie City crowd thingy??? There are less families in the heartland, Easts have for years catered more for the DINK demographic. We always seemed to pull better crowds in night games at home.

Also would school and weekend sports for kids have something to do with it???

I see the point of the thread and agree it's not ideal for families but I do enjoy night games atmosphere and so do kids from my observations.

                            The FlogPen .

                            You know it makes sense.

My kids were onto me to bring them to a game of cricket, I thought a day at a Test match or a 50 over ODI would be far too long for them (they are 8 & 10 also STSAE), so I decided a 20/20 game would be perfect. So I took them to the AusDay 20/20 v Sri Lanka, it was OK, bloody humid night, we didn't really put up much of a fight, we lost & I didn't get them home until after 12.30 a.m., so it will be a while before we head back me thinks. Also went to the Wanderers v Adelaide game as my young bloke was playing in the half time show, had a fantastic night, I don't even like soccer, the Wanderers won 6-1 so plenty of goals, great crowd singing etc. & we were home by about 10.30 - 11.00pm even with the idiotic car park scheme at Parra stadium, not letting any cars leave until all the pedestrians had cleared, would've been home at least half an hour earlier without it.
We just love the 2pm Sunday arvo games, the 3pm games are also great, we will prob go to some Sat night games, if they have nothing on on the Sunday, but yeah Sunday arvo games rock, especially when Easts win!
