The squad we have for 2013 is a great squad and we should therefore try to have the same players in 2014. With experience our youngsters will only get better. Therefore I think it is important to sign Pearce and SBW. We have struggled since the Fittler days to have a consistent half, I think Pearce with some good forwards and some handy backs will really excel this year. Our team is structured around him which means we must sign him! Also SBW will always add value and I would love to see him here on a long term deal.
Apart from these two none of the others off contract are of great importance, with a team like ours I think we will have to be cutting fringe players to accomodate our big names (as they mature and perform). Mini should retire at the end of the season.
As far as the open market goes, I really cant see us chasing any big names as our cap is surely at its limit. However if we did go to the open market I would like to see us make us play for Farah. This isnt likely but I still think we lack depth at hooker and think Nathan Peats would be a better option. He is playing really good footy for Souths and wont come too expensive. Other than that maybe Aiden Tolman, we need props in his mould.
