Sam Williams from the Raiders will be the next big thing this season. I would be trying to get him if we lost Pearce.

On the Dubai v Madrooster argument....I'm with Dubai. There is no way in the world there is enough talent to bring in another team.

Also just for fun from the list of offcontract players below if u could choose 1 player from each team & 2 from Roosters which makes 17 players,,what random team would u put together & what would u call them

No, I do not believe there is enough talent to sustain another NRL team. We hardly have enough for the current 16 teams.
See the bolded part of the quote from the original thread above. That's why it was in my response. You've taken a hypothetical response and made an issue.

On that issue I totally disagree with the belief there isn't enough talent to expand.

        1. Both the Qld Cup and the NSWRL Cup are in arguably the strongest and most competitive form it has ever been. The population on here are asking for two of Newtowns grand final team (Tupou and Seluini) to be in our top 17 for the start of the year. Throw in Bosden and Masoe from that same side, who will both find themselves in NRL for extended periods this year. Out of the QLD cup grand final there are a number of players now listed in the Broncos top 30 squad (Grandville, Bond, Dalziell-Don, Berryman, Gibb, Whitchurch, Georgetown)
        2. For every 1 player that retires each year there are 3 or 4 capable replacements coming through at each club, and although the strength of Toyota cup is a long way off NRL, it (Toyota cup-in tandem with reserve grade comps) is serving its purpose of making the step up to NRL less significant.
        3. The amount of quality players we lose to French/Japan and Super 15 union, afl and ESL each year is significant. Some we lose because of bigger bucks, a lot are forced out with younger players coming through and they take the money and extend their career overseas.

Fringe First Graders - 1 from each club...
        David Hala
        Trent Hodkinson
        Sam Williams
        Jason Bukuya
        Ben Ridge
        Kayne Lawton
        Junior Sau
        Josh Drinkwater
        Rob Liu
        Adam Cuthbertson
        David Simmonds
        Tinirau Arona
        Chris McQueen
        Jacob Loko
        Carlos Tuimavave
        James Tedesco

        Team from ESL alone.
        1. B Hodgson
        2. J Monoghan
        3. J Moon
        4. D Millard
        5. F Meli
        6. R Chase
        7. L Hohaia
        8. T Puletua
        9. T Burns
        10. A Kaufusi
        11. T Waterhouse
        12. A Laffranchi
        13. Z Taia
        14. U Ta'ai
        15. J Poore
        16. E Luaki
        17. L O'Donnell

Throw in Israel Falou, Cooper Vuna, Karmichael Hunt, Omar Slamankel, Jarrod Saffy who ever else we have watch leave for union and AFL.

There's some names there, not to mention the 15-20 under 20s who will come through and play firsts this year.

Sam Williams mate is a perfect example of the argument, sorry my opinion, that I am stating. Sam Williams is only going to have big season if Campese or Mcrone get injured.. As Jack said its opportunity.

            Great post (2 above).

I think you're right, but such a move would require adjustments to the current wage structures/salary cap in order to keep the best of the names listed above in the NRL.

            But surely that's surmountable.

Stopped reading after the first sentence. Too long.

Watch Dragons vs Panthers this year and tell me if you still feel the same way.

Well how about you read it and then post a more appropriate response?

He did take the time to articulate a well constructed bit, and in doing so raised the standard of debate on this forum - a feat lessened by your lazy response.

So one player makes your point? In my opinion those teams you named above would be fighting it out with Parra for the spoon.

There's 16 examples there. I didn't need to make the Sam Williams point you made it for me. If you can't see the quality of footballers in that list then your blind.
