  • has SBW bulked up too much

holy crap just saw SBW interviewed on FSN and he is looking extremely top heavy in preparation for his fight against Botha.

with less than a month between his fight on feb 8th and the start of the season it would seem very unlikely he will be able to get into football shape for the start of the season, meaning long minutes will certainly be out of the question early in 2013.

SBW also made mention of Moga doing his knee and being out for the season for all those out there clinging to the hope Moga was coming back in 2013.

I think u r worrying about nothing Fletch. SBW is not your normal athlete. He is a freak of nature. And his boxing fitness will allow him to come straight back to league.

The fitness boxing will give him will be head and shoulders above what he'd be doing in pre season. You also forget that hes done this all before.

Exactly... boxing is more tiring than footy. He'll be fit!!!

Botha is no mug, I trust SBW has prepared well for this fight. He may take some time to acclimate back to league so I'm not expecting big things from him in the early rounds despite the level of fitness he already has doing boxing training.

He will have very high level cardio fitness, but fitness is a complex term in common day life. At elite sport level it is even more complex.

As I mentioned above boxing fit, rugby union fit and rugby league fit a the lite level are three different things.

Too right MR. Usain Bolt is fit. How long do you reckon he would last in league?

Straw man. Bolt runs 100's, which means power/sprint. Both boxing and league require endurance with bouts of sprint/power.

bulked up too much doubt it, the guy would be super fit and will probably get match fit earlier then most of the guys...we have the depth to bring him off the bench as an impact sub to do lots of damage after 20min.

Just a quick thought on sbw boxing capabilities, if a fight were to break out on the field and sbw was involved would he be judged more harshly

Anyone whose ever played footy at any level will know about match fitness and how it differs from what other sports deem fit.

Being out of RL for 5 seasons $BW will take a while to adjust no matter how fit he is.

I'm with Ralph. I reckon it will be bench for the first month at least. Impact we want from him, quality not quantity.
