  • Off Contract Players-Stay or Go

Early days I know, but out of the list of our off contract players what do you guys think needs to happen?

    Contracts finishing Nov 2013
Pearce, Aubusson, Minichiello, Nuuausala, Tasi, Takairangi, Ailaomai, Seluini, Mortimer and SBW

Pearce - I hope it doesn't drag on all year. I'd love an outcome before start of the season. That way it won't interrupt season or give the DT something to stir about, and if we need find a new half we can start planning. In fact club probably already knows. Thing concerns me is outside of JT what other half old you REALISTICALLY want as our 7, or 6 with Maloney at 7?

    Mini - Retire.

FPN and Aubs - One is a game breaker when he's on, and when he's not (which happens far too often) he is here nor there. The other has overall given us many years of solid consistent service, but is by no means an X factor. One is a prop who has moonlighted as a backrower, the other a backrower who has moonlighted as a centre all too often. We are full of back rowers, and light on experienced hardened props.

Ailaomai, Taka and Tasi - lots of potential. One/Two of them needs to fulfil it this year and beyond.

Seluini and Mortimer - great for depth in halves/hooker/utility role and I expect Seluini to REALLY push friend at times this year. And with little coming through in halves area I think we need to have both in the club or suitably replaced.

SBW - To hard basket. Leave that to uncle nick.

    Thoughts?

All signs are pointing towards Pearce re-signing:

    Robinson appointed coach

    Pearce appointed VC

Signings of SBW & Jennings, showing we are serious and are pushing to win the premiership3

My bet is he will re-sign !

      No FPN, Ailaomia
Either Nafe or Morts, one of the two
Hopefully, Sonny for a few more yrs.
Mini needs the tap on the shoulder
Aubs, Taka, Tasi and junior all
      re-sign
Hopefully POS has his eye on a couple of good young halves around Australia we can get and start to develop them for years to come

I'm confident that Pearce will re-sign sooner rather than later.

He's finally starting to get some options at Easts, I reckon he'd want to try and capitalise on that.

for my money Pearce has to grow up and deliver all he has to do is apply the attitude he has been given.........I give him 6 rounds. With this current new line up .He couldnt possibly **** it up .As coach i would give Zero telerance. He has had his youthful rootathon he better pay back uncle nick and the paying public..or I havnt a problem elavating Seluini and flicking pearce.

Pearce - We need to keep him, even if it's for the fact that most other supprters can't stand him. But seeing as we don't have a replacement, and Thurston looks like going to Penrith, he's a must re-sign.

Aubs - needs to have a big season.

              Mini - TAXI!!!!!

FPN - If he wants to play prop for less money, maybe re-sign. If he carries on thnking he's Malcolm Reilly, cut him.

Tasi - Re-sign. His best is still yet to come.

Taka - Re-sign for hi utility value

Ailomai? Good Newtown player - see if they want to cough up towards his salary

              Seluini - Definitely re-sign.

Morts - be sad to see him go, but it's for the best.

SBW - He's got other fish to fry, so let's cut him before he does a runner. Unless Botha puts him on his arse...he might forget about boxing once he fights blokes who can actually go a bit.

Dont be suprised if mini has a solid season on the wing and gets another yr as he comes free, 2015 Pearce gets the 300k long service allowance! Very important to keep him.

FPN, Taka, Mini, Mortimer gone. The rest can stay. Use whatever is left to plug any holes in our squad.

I don't think we've seen the best of him IMMTHO. Would be worth persisting with if he comes cheap.
                      Comment of the year:

Andrew Johns, Semi-Final vs North Queensland ,

pearce definately. for 2 or 3 years. weve invested too much time to throw him away now. he is still only 23.
aubo if he has a good year.
this will be mini's last year.
                        i want FPN gone now.
tasi if he has a breajout/good year.
takairangi because he is our own sbw, he will blossom from having sbw around.
ailomai because he is a promising youngster.
one of either nafe or morts.
sbw is a year to year proposition

Not sure I rate him that highly. So much talent but he hasn't really made much of his opportunities in my opinion. He's got one season to prove himself in my view.

I think he'll come good soon enough. He is a ball playing back rower and has a mean offload which catches most defences off guard.
