i would find it very hard to argue against that. I think phillips saved us from losing the 2000 gf by 30 points.

Phillips would have been an even better player in todays game then he was in 2000-2002. His skill set was perfectly suited to the modern day fullback role.

Was he the best we've had though? I can't see it to be honest. He was very good and very brave, nut Mini at his best was better as was Russell Fairfax

I agree but if you think Hayne is better than Slater you are wrong.

In this age Slater, Barba, GI, Bowen are all better. Locke when hes on form. 2012 I reckon he was better despite injuries and Warriors poor rd 18-26 form.

Just because somebody on a forum thinks that x is better than y, doesn't mean they're not BOTH greats.

For example out of Fittler, Joey, Lockyer and Thurston who is the best half? Regardless of who you think is the best, they are all greats and have their place in history.

Personally I dont think he is.

He is a Rooster great and has been a great club man for the Roosters. But I wouldnt say he is a modern day great. An important thing when being classified as a modern day great would have to longevity...Mini only really dominated the NRL for 3 or so seasons unlike the likes of Slater, Cronk, Smith, Lockyer, Johns and Fittler who all dominated for an entire decade. Mini unfortunately got dealty cruely with injuries, and unfortuantely was cut down at the peak of his powers.

So a Rooster great, yes. But a modern day great, no.

Either way, still gotta love Mini!
