  • SBW - What you see is what you get?

Hey there fellow Roosters brothers. This is my first post here so I hope I don't get shot down in flames

Personally I am a big fan of SBW. I am so happy we signed him as I think we have been without a genuine marquee player basically since Freddy retired. (I love that man.)

Anyway, what I have been thinking is there is a lot more to this whole situation than meets the eye. How much is he really getting paid? Who would know? Certainly not me. Does SBW really want to play NRL and why? What does he have to gain? Does he genuinely regret his decision and is just doing it because he is a good bloke? Again I don't know.

I have a suspicion that a complex deal has been done behind closed doors that allows him and Quade Cooper to join the Roosters. Did we have to sign Cooper to get SBW? Maybe. Do the powers that be rate Cooper? Maybe. He may or may not make it but if it means SBW is committed to us for more than one year then great.

Anyway, I'm nobody and I know noone and nothing. I have just seen enough things play out through the media to suspect something is going on. Is it just PR to make SBW seem like a good guy or is there more to it or nothing at all?

Anyway, please don;t be too harsh ladies and gentlemen. This may be a controversial first post but I am happy to join the community and hope I will be welcomed.

    All the best,
    JoMo_Grasshopper

Yeah I can't figure it out but someting seems a little smelly. If it benefits the Roosters then I am all for it but I'm curious to know the real story.

And what if you don't get to know the real story, will it affect you following the team?

              Chook.

                Good first post.
SBW met with Roosters officials at Swiss Grand Hotel in Bondi 3 years ago. I know this becasue I was there that day.
This deal has been on the table for a long time.
I reckon SBW is itching to get back into the premier game.
I don't care what he says and doesn't say in front of the press.
People have criticised him for not appearing excited about his return. I think it's rubbish. He'll show how excited he is when he smashes Sam Burgess in March next year.
I can't understand any Roosters fan not supporting this signing. I am sure those people will be even more pumped up than usual next year when we play Souths because they'll be watching one of the world's best athletes playing for their club. I am sure after a game or two the non believers will be converted to believers.

I just hope his shoulders are up to it. Didnt he have a few reco's when he first started?

The forwards are much bigger, faster and stronger than they were in 2008.
I hope he can keep up.

He is a lot fitter too, with all the boxing and cardio training he does. Maybe he can give FPN and Mose a few lessons.

jo mo i think you may be correct, those two are mates and want to play together, i expect quade to play in france for one year then join us along with sbw again for 2014, then well have more cap space, no mini to worry about and it would give quade another year to get his mind around league!

He was still growing though i think he grew 2 inches in height at 19 - that's why he had injuries younger days.
