  • Bring Back Shack????

Apparently Shane Shackleton is without a club for 2013.

Played well in his last season for us before going to parra. We also are a bit thin in the forwards without much experience. He isn't setting the world on fire currently but he would be dirt cheap and can do a good Islander Impersonation to keep our poly boys entertained.

Nah he made his own bed, we showed him loyalty through his injuries and he chased the dollar.

There's just not enough upside based on his ability.

Shack was never offered anywhere near the money the Eels threw at him to sign him, he is a single dad with young kids, he had to take it, I have no gripe with that, but in saying that, I dont believe him to be a NRL standard player, and the best he could hope for from us, would maybe be a contract with Newtown, I wish him well for hnis future.

I don't begrudge Shane taking the money the Eels offered him and unfortunately his time there was ruined by injury and his stint at the Panthers too short for some reason. Wish him all the best for his future, not just because he is a (single) father with children but because I believe he still has what it takes to play in first grade as a solid toiling player.

There is no room in our club for a hack named Shack, I watched him playing for us for a couple of seasons and can remember three or four games that he played well. when we sacked him we bought Hargreaves for the same price. I was as pleased to see end of Shack as most Parra supporters would feel now.

I always like having a hard old nut up front. We have plenty of young promising props atm, but not much experience. I think an old head would add some nice balance to our pack as blokes like Nutley and Ryles have done in the recent past.

In saying that Shack has never really reached any great heights in his career - always being a fringe first grader at best. If we were going to add to our front row stocks, I would prefer it was someone that could impart some knowledge onto the young blokes and show a bit of leadership. However given we have signed Sam Moa in addition to our young front rowers coming through, I think our books are closed.

I wish Shack the best. Although not the most talented, he always had a go when he played for us.
