        Fair dinkum, the NRL is run by gronks. How many players are out there without managers who deal with clubs direct? There are a few. I cannot see the problem if SBW has not got an accredited manager when it comes time to doing a deal.

          Information for Players
          If you are a talented young player, or parents of a talented teenager, and you have been approached by a player agent, the first question to ask if – ‘are you accredited?’. Only agents registered with the Rugby League Accredited Player Agent Scheme can operate in the sport at any level.

          Talented players are regularly approached by various people offering their management services. The values associated with having an accredited agent includes:

          An accredited agent is committed to the RLAPAS Code of Ethics;
          An accredited agent must meet the ethical and professional standards required by the Accreditation Scheme;
          Every agreement between a player and agent must be recorded on a standard approved Player Agent Agreement which is then registered with the scheme;
          The accreditation scheme has the endorsement of the NRL Clubs, the NRL and other major junior and senior Rugby League bodies, plus the Rugby League Players Association;
          An accredited agent has the right to use the Rugby League Accredited Player Agent brand; look for the ‘Accredited Player Agent’ logo on their business cards.
          The scheme is independent of the NRL and is administered by a board made up of representative of the NRL, Player Agents, Players and Secondary Schools Rugby League, with an independent chairman.

          No agent, unless accredited, can negotiate a contract for a player at Toyota Cup or NRL level unless he or she is accredited. A contract will not be registered with the NRL if the agent used is not accredited is listed on the contract. So be sure you are with an accredited agent.

          However, no player is obliged to have an agent. Clubs don't require an agent in negotiations; but if an agent is used, he or she must be accredited.

          No problems about SBW signing, he just does it himself and also gets to keep the normal agent fee

              Had a phone call from a journo from the SMH a couple of years ago following up on a story regarding the non payment of development fees for country juniors (every time an NRL club signs a country kid they pay a fee depending on the level of rep footy the kid has played.) Anyway, I mentioned there are bigger issues in the game and that player managers were one of the biggest blights on the game as they put nothing into the game but make shitloads out of it. Her response was along the lines of 'yeah but every one has to have a manager'. She could not comprehend this and was flabbergasted when I told her that my son had recently signed with the Raiders and I (an unacredited person) had handled all negotiations!

                  No he doesn't because my nephew is his manager. He also manages several other high profile players in various sports and looks after them 24 hours a day, just like in Jerry Maguire therefore earns his money. He has saved at least two players from gambling and drinking all their money away by putting them on strict budgets and instead investing the money for them so they won't be broke at age 28. My sister in law also cooks for a lot of the players who have no family support and they looked after another player during his cancer scare. Stop and think before you judge managers. You can't tar them all with the same brush. Like in any profession, there will be the good guys and the bad.

                          The agent is also there to make money for the client. Do you really think anyone would have an agent if they got no benefit?

                            Rwb, I know this manger well, he also manages Israel, Jennings, Blair and Sandow to name a few. You are spot on, he is one of the better managers going round, a real Jerry Maguire, he goes beyond the call of duty with his players. SBW story is just another weak attempt by this clubs detractors to try and undermine our 2013 season.
