But Royce definitely has an eye for young talent. He played a big part in the young stars who won the 2003 and 2005 premierships, and IMO no coincidence Tigers have gone backwards since Royce left.

So we have a rookie 1st grade coach, a rookie assistant with a few years experience as a head coach where he was sacked, a rookie defense coach and no 20s coach. All that combined with a returning CEO who was sacked last time he was at the club, cos from what I've been told he tried to do away with the Matt and Ball squads.
Blind faith baby.

Looking at our club from an outsiders view we appear to have pootential, in the coaching and playing ranks, but that could go either way. We seem to be relying on an obvious youth policy, $BW and Baloney, with a rookie coach and a CEO who has been sacked in the past for not wanting to continue with our youth teams.
Still we have seen this repeated in the past few off seasons. Many build up their expectations unrealistically IMO only to chuck the mother of all tantys when the shit hits the fan mid season. I even recall many doing the same thing mid 2002 and 2010 when we were in some real strife and looking at missing the 8.
Humans rarely learn.
That said I hope we do a 2002 and I am way off with my questioning of the new structure we have put in place.

For me the highest I think they will finish is 5th & the lowest I think they will finish is 12th.
Im thinking maybe 8th probably 9th.
It's pretty hard to gauge how things will go next year. Like any club if all things click they could finish in the top 4 which would have to be considered a very good year.
The expectations I have on the team is I think they have got the players to finish 8th which I would consider a good year. Worst case scenario would be Robinson's vision is not getting across or the players dont buy into the vision then we could get the spoon. Highly unlikely.
I consider JWH, Cordner, SBW, Pearce, Maloney & SKD our top 6 & IMO would be the players at our club that all other clubs would try to buy if they were on the market . Maybe not Maloney.
Aubusson, Guerra, Kennedy, Seluini, Takairangi, Symonds, FPN & BJ IMO are our next best players who I think are talented players on there day.
Friend, Tasi, Arona, Bosden, Masoe, Moga & Mini would not be missed IMO. I see these players as fringe firstgraders.
Do I think any of them can make it long term in FG? Yes but they have been average at the Roosters IMO.
I havn't seen enough of Oldfield to rate him but I have a feeling he is not going to be anything special.
From what I have seen I think Tupou & Henry both have talent & are good enough to make FG.
So that leaves the very young ones RTS, Langi, Evans & Napa. IMO RTS is definitely good enough to play FG, but in what position?
Not on th the wing.
The other 3 are a lottery, I doubt very much they will all become seasoned 1st graders, realistically the Roosters will be lucky if 1 of them kicks on.
Others like Ailaomai Cherro & Mortimer are IMO worth perservering with .

Same as the season it's very hard this far out to make any predictions, I reckon we won't really know till mid season next year, at best.
I don't see us being a side that will bolt out of the blocks and play consistently. We haven't been that sorta club since 2003-04. More than likely best case scenario would be a season like 02 or 10 where we are inconsistent the first 1/2 of the season but show when it clicks we are a very dangerous side, then when it does click go on a run deep into the finals.
From there with youth and energy and potential who knows what could happen.
I expect a semi honeymoon. It's very Easts, sack a coach and players after a bad season or two and bring in fresh ideas and everyone feels the love and performs.
I would like to see us become a hard defensive unit, use our pack to go forward and give the 1/2s some room to hit some pace out wide, it's been a while since we've had much speed in the outside backs. Be consistent, be disciplined, defend our line, hold the pill, get repeats and then play footy.
If the new coach can get us doing the basics right I see enough pootential to fly. Trouble is instilling it into them for ever. Getting the club that winning culture. That's what I really want to see, the club with that don't fark with us attitude again.
I guess time will tell.
Definitely looking forward to it.

Tasi is a future superstar and I really mean that. He has a good motor and is fierce in defence. He has shown us glimpses of what he can do and with the right coach, he will one day play for Queensland. I would hate to loose him. I hope that he can start next year in a positive way and show us what he is made of.
Arona has been useful this season. He comes off the bench, makes the tackles required, the metres required, can play long minutes and has good footwork for a forward. Bosden's career has been dogged with injury unfortunately. He is a really good quality lock/backrower with a really good motor, but he needs to play more games.
I can't believe that Moga is in that fringe firstgraders list. Apart from a few bad reads in defence he has been sensational this year. He has scored a few tries one of which was a length of the field try, he is strong in attack with his fends and has a huge amount of speed to match his size. I can think of a lot worse debut seasons. This kid will be at the top for many years to come and hopefully next year is his break through season.
Mose and Mini are shockers. Like Tasi with the right coach Mose can improve but he needs a real attitude check before he returns because he just seemed disinterested and lazy.Comment of the year:

I think we have the cattle. They are possibly 12 months away from commencing their peak performance years. So 2014 looks good if Pearce and a few of the yet-to-fulfill-their-potential players live up to their expectations.
Last year, we are told, the coach lost the support of the players. As such, they played with no patterns and played their own game plan. That, or the coach (and his staff) had no clue and we had no structure because he had not defined one.
Looking forward, we have a coach that the players wanted. If TR can gain their support early and build combinations and confidence around the senior and key players, then maybe things can click and we turn into a top 5-top 3 team.
The club seems to be building an "Easts Culture" with key men returning to the club. I hope they welcome Fittler into a role of developing the halves. Similar to both Johns brothers at various clubs
I am optimisitic. Perhaps, some would call me too optimisitic but I truely believe we have something to cheer this year.

We are all entitled to our opinion but for me I think Friend is to bulky in his build, he is not nippy enough & only has limited ability to read a game. I think he would be better off in the ESL.
In regards to Tasi I dont believe he was given enough game time under Smith. People on here give him the wraps but to be honest I have only seen Tasi play 2 really good games for us so from my observations he hasn't lived up to the hype. I rate him our 3rd best prop.
Bosden & Arona IMO are not better than the guys I named but that doesn't mean that they cant play.
Mini & Masoe do nothing for me. I have always said Mini was a champion player but I think he is the 15th best FB in the comp.
Im not sold on Moga. I rate BJ & SKD before him for a centre spot & I rate Topou & Henry ahead of him for a wing spot.
