part of that has to be off the field as well and I'm hoping to see that in Mitchell.

Read: If Mitch wants to be captain he needs to stop being one of the boys and evolve as a human. He needs to become a leader and pass on his experience to the younger kids i.e Evans, Moga, Cordner etc etc.

It's not something that is expected of most 23 year olds hence why I hope that I see this in Mitch in the coming months.

I think with a bit of support around him and also with the way that we want to train I'm hoping that he will become maybe a potential captain.

Read: He's still only 23 so he'd need some support around him if he's going to be captain, given the young squad I've got this is definitely the way I'm leaning at the moment - a leadership group if you will. Also Given my prior association with the club I know how hard he trains and with the higher intensity I intend to implement this year I'm hopeful he can lead the squad thus making him a potential captain.

Why maubs for captain? I don't understand why people get so wet about this bloke. He might be a good bloke off the field or something like that, but he far from leads by example on it. This year he wouldn't have looked out of place in a Jets jersey.

As for Cordner you're just being rediculous now - isn't he still a teenager or just 20? talk about loading responsibilities on someone unnecessarily.

However, glad to see Robinson is not going the token-gesture by gift wrapping the captaincy and giving it to Mini. Pearce is probably the obvious choice.

One of the things that was clear in the press conference is that Robinson wants leaders who lead not just on the field but also on the training paddock (setting the tone, doing extras etc) and also out and about (avoiding police and papparazzi). While Maubs form has been in question over the last two seasons, he might show the right characteristics off the field to be considered for the leadership group.
