Junior Kangaroos d. Junior Kiwis 48-16

The Junior Kangaroos strolled to a 48-16 win over the Junior Kiwis in the curtain-raiser to Saturday's rugby league Test at Townsville.

New Zealand took the lead through Carlos Tuimavave's early try but Kelly Egan's side hit back through efforts from Edrick Lee, David Klemmer, Jake Stockwell, Cheyse Blair and Jack Wighton, with Wests Tigers halfback Jacob Miller kicking five goals.
Ngataua Hukatai pulled four points back for the Kiwis with a well-taken try, but the hosts led 30-8 at halftime after Penani Manumalealii missed the extras.
The second period saw the Kiwis cut the deficit when David Fastiua raced 90 metres to score after intercepting a Miller pass.
However, any hopes of a stirring comeback from the tourists were dashed following a sustained spell of pressure from Kangaroos that yielded quickfire tries from Wighton, exciting young Melbourne winger Mahe Fonua and Canberra's Lee.
The Kiwis, struggling in the humid conditions, did almost score again through Roger Tuivasa-Sheck, only for the Sydney Roosters winger's try to be chalked off for a double movement.
But their efforts were rewarded with a second for Hukatai.
The Kangaroos had the final word when giant Sydney Roosters centre Tautau Moga brushed aside two tackles to score in the final seconds of the game for his side's ninth try.
That led to a scuffle between both sets of players with Jason Taumalolo and Kane Evans going toe-to-toe.
Miller then missed the conversion to end the game with six goals.

FittlerGoat, didn't you like the fact both teams didn't let the score blow out???

That some of the defense from both teams, especially NZ, was outstanding???

That both sides played tough, despite there being very little up for grabs, it being the end of a long season and it being played in the tropics???

That using 1 reff had zero negative effect AGAIN on the outcome???

What did you want a whacking like the u20s game???

Maybe you are too young to remember what the meaning of a Test is all about???

The two Tests this season have been bordering on Old Skool IMO. Not all about flair, more about getting dirty and wanting to grind out a game.

This is what's been killing Test footy, this attitude, this lack of attrition in our footy these days. It's meant to be a battle, not touch footy.

          You know it makes sense.

id like to see a halfback chip and chase. thatd be old skool.
or maybe a boot lace tackle on a run away winger ala scott satler.
and when was the last time anyone saw a run-around play?

Look ShittlerGoat has spoken, with his badly arranged keypad again.

The text generation, it's a scary thought considering my kids aren't far off this puberty blue.

Mate I'm only taking the piss, I think all you youngsters offer plenty and are the future.

My kids, like all others kids of all generations, will have to face the harsh realities of life and will be influenced by what's around them including drugs and alcohol and yes even goats.

Like most parents I hope they make it thru relatively unscathed and they have fulfilling lives.

I've been there and done all the dumb things so if they have as much fun as I did I say get a dog up ya.

As long as they support Easts, as they do, I am happy.

BTW they have tried goat on more than one occasion and find it a succulent meal, when I cook it of course.

exactly right there mate, if you raise them the right way (which i am in noway trying to offend you here) then as they get older, theyll naturally start to understand the rights and wrongs of life including drugs, alcohol etc. for instance, at a party not so long ago, one of my mates (who is a bit of a rough lad) downed beer after beer, yet when he was offered a smoke, he flatly refused. there is still hope for humanity
and ive also tried goat once, the meat was stringy, the tongue wriggled too much (even though it was dead) and the brain was tiny.
