    36. (30) Dave Taylor – Towering and talented Rabbitohs, Queensland and Australia second-rower
A flat track bully that offers nothing in big games, kicked out of Origin for being useless and hooked twice in one game by his club coach. Souths won big getting Te'o for that mongoloid.

And Gold Coast will now be home to the two laziest (but potentially molst destructive players) players in the NRL.........Idris and Taylor

Why isn't Braith in there? Top 10 player.

7th best is not in the top 5. Barba certainly deserves his spot.
Sorry meant to say top 10, point still stands.

You think he's better than Slater, Smith, Inglis, Thurston, Scott, Gallen, Hayne, Marshall... That's already more than 7. Blokes who have played at exceptionally high standard for numerous years at the highest levels.

If one good year equates to being in your top ten then so be it, but imo the true stars of our game are defined by consistency and displaying the ability to play at the highest levels of the game. Neither of which Barba has displayed as of yet, his time will come.

Brett Morris in the top 20 and Mateo and Tony Williams at 24th and 25th just show how much knowledge they have of Rugby League.

I do believe he is better than some of those players, Hayne included. Barba has played at a level for 26+ weeks greater than Hayne ever has in his career (10 or so weeks aside). This on top of an excellent season in 2011. People were happy for Todd Carney to be ranked the best player in the game after his 2010 season even those his form was sporadic in previous years. You have to give the majority of the weighting in this ranking from the current year as it is rankings for now, not 2 or 3 years ago just as sports like Tennis and golf base their rankings (Tennis is a rolling 12 months, golf 2 years or so).

And I think that some of the comments here give a good indication as to what this all means.....it is someone/s opinion & everyone sees the game differently.

That said, I am disappointed that Braith didn't make the list.

For the record Pearce should have been there imho but no higher than about 40. Can't believe people criticize someone like Matulino for being there, he is a fantastic player. That said, Hindmarsh certainly shouldn't be there..

The salary cap has nothing to do with who gets voted in the top 50 players. Sam Kasiano would of been lucky to be on 150k this season. I dont think Barba is on any top dollar contract. 200k maxs. Morris 250k & Graham 300k IMO are not high priced players.
Ennis I dont think would be on more than 300k.
Tony Williams will be there most expensive player.

I dont think Barba, Reynolds, Wright or Keating are on anymore than 200k per season & Perrett & Inu are on 50k. Compare that to the Roosters & you have Pearce on 400k, Maloney on at least 250k, SKD 350k, BJ 200k?, Moga 100k?, Oldfield would be on 150k, & Tapou & RTS would be on minimum wage wouldn't they.

IMO there would no Bulldogs players being paid higher than a couple of our Roosters players.

Both pritchard and graham are on over 400k. Not sure why you are counting Maloney, he isn't here. If you are referring to next year then it has been reported Inu is on 325k and perret 300k. If they are paying those 2 that much then the mind can only boggle how much some of their more established rep players are on.

both inu and perrett are still being paid majority of their contracts by the former clubs; the warriors and the roosters, respectively.
next year they could possibly be on only 50k each

Perret's roosters contract ran out this year. His bulldogs contract is 300k a season. It was reported the bulldogs were paying Inu 50k for 2012 but the agreement reached with the warriors was that the bulldogs would pay 100% of his 325k per season contract in 2013.

I'd disagree with Barba's purple patch of form ever being greater than Hayne's, it's indisputable that his consistency over the season has been outstanding but Hayne carried an average Parramatta side where they played on the back of his individual brilliance, Barba has played in a very good side this year.

I was never happy to have Carney in the top 10 so that doesn't apply to me. Barba still has a lot to prove to be a top 10 player, he's played very few big games in his career i.e Grand Finals, Origin & Test Matches. Last night was the perfect example why he shouldn't be considered a top 10 player yet, he was made to look an absolute mug in the Grand Final. For me the best players in the game need to prove their ability in the biggest games.

Unlike thurston, Scott and countless others who weren't good enough to get there teams there. For a mug he still created some great opportunities.
