  • Winning the comp.....

is great but really I'll be happy to have a competitive team. After the last few seasons the thing that I can't handle is seeing our team enter matches where you just know that they won't be good enough and it's a feeling that I hate. I'm not expecting miracles in 2013 but I'd like to think that every game we play we'll be an even money chance of winning. As I said, if we can win a comp great but it's not the be all and end all. I also hope we can hang tough in matches instead of just meekly turning up our toes which has become the norm more often than not. Whether Robinson is the coach we need remains to be seen but the first thing he needs to do is fix up our defense.

Ray, agreed, if these fellas just compete hard on a consistent basis, I will be pleased and I suspect the results will take care of themselves.

My goddaughter has strict instructions to drape my coffin with my retro jersey, send me on my merry way from St Anthonys at Clovelly with red, white and blue flowers and then take everyone to lunch (not mourn) at the leagues club. No-one will be allowed to wear black either. And some Alex Lloyd and The Whitlams for musical enlightenment. That would make me a happy girl.

Our defense won't be fixed until the balance of our forward pack is more orientated towards defense than it has been for the past 3 seasons. Each week we have to many attacking backrowers in the 17. We have ball playing backrowers like FPN, Takairangi and SBW. Hole runners like Aubusson and Guerra. Next year we cannot have a 17 with 5 attacking backrowers when most of the ones I have mentioned do not do enough tackling on a weekly basis. This is why we concede well over 20 points a game and will continue to do so if we have an unbalanced forward pack. It is also the reason why Jake Friend is so ineffective in attack. He has to make 50 tackles a game because our lazy backrowers won't get of there asses and consistently make 30 a game. I reckon if Friend only had to make 35 - 40 tackles a game he would have the energy to offer a bit more thrust out of dummy half.

Stop complaining! You could be a Cronulla fan.

My uncle's poor 85 year old neighbour died recently and she never got to see her beloved Sharks win anything.

And that's why as much as I'd like to see Tamou back, our resources can be better spent by a) letting go of a few in backrow club and b) signing/finding/developing our Fensom/Parker/Johnson. Someone who plugs the middle. Maybe that person is already in our club, I don't know.

No the reason Friend is ineffective in attack is because he is useless.. Plain & simple

If Jake's shuffle/turn/shuffle, before getting rid of the ball at dummy half, isn't sorted before the start of the season he can't stay in the top grade just for his defense.

                      That's sad.

I had that fear prior to 02, as I started supporting the chooks in the late 70s/early 80s and for more than 20 years there was nothing to crow about, literally. But in 02, when we got the monkey off our backs, I could finally breath again.

ray realistically the Roosters will be lucky if they finish between 11th & 8th next season.

The Roosters winning the comp next year is as likely as my wife letting me go to the Phillipines with a couple of mates for a week.

The Roosters dont have the 5 or 6 harden experienced 1st graders at this stage & with so many of our players not having played 50 FG games it's totally unrealistic to think that they would be anywhere near next years GF.

SBW & Maloney will help move us up from 13th I think but with the likes of Friend & probably Mini in key positions I think we will be in for another average year next year.

Where did I say that we'd win the comp?

You didn't but with statements like "Winning the comp.....is greats" or
"As I said, if we can win a comp great" just shouldn't even be thought of is were I was coming from.

You've totally missed the point of what I wrote. I wrote that I want us to be competitive in every game and that I want our defense to improve.
