  • SBW to fight on november 17

Departing All Blacks star Sonny Bill Williams will contest a heavyweight boxing fight in South Africa in November, according to media reports.

South African newspaper Beeld reported Williams will fight heavyweight Francois Botha on November 17 in Durban.

Speculation has long surrounded the prospect of a fight against 43-year-old professional Botha, known as the "White Buffalo''.

Boxing promoter Thinus Strydom told the newspaper final details around the fight had been completed this week.
Botha is a hardened boxer, having compiled a record of 48 wins from 58 fights, including 29 knockouts.

Opponents have included Lennox Lewis, Mike Tyson, Michael Moorer, Axel Schulz and Wladimir Klitschko.

Williams is comparatively new to boxing but holds the New Zealand Professional Boxing Association heavyweight title after beating American Clarence Tillman III in Hamilton in February.

After starring in the Chiefs' victorious Super Rugby campaign this year, Williams will farewell New Zealand with two All Blacks Tests, starting with Saturday night's Bledisloe Cup match in Sydney.

He leaves next month to begin a lucrative stint with the Panasonic Wild Knights club in Japan and will return to rugby league in the NRL next year.

So will Ian Schubert be at the fight, counting the patrons, and adding all the $$'s to the Roosters salary cap ?

The "White Buffalo" will probably knock SBW all the way into next 'July'.
Got any suggestions for a replacemnt buy for SBW?

              Two things.

              1. Francois Botha is a bleeder and a canvasback.
              2. Go Phantom Punch!!!!

                  LOL

With a full head of steam up he could be hard to tackle.

                    From Wikipedia.

                    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Joe_Bugner#Life_outside_boxing

He worked as the expert adviser on the Russell Crowe film, Cinderella Man, which was a film about the heavyweight boxer James J. Braddock.[14] Bugner was dropped part way through the project, which prompted him to call Crowe, "a gutless worm and a f*****g girl".
For this alone, he should be hired.

Botha is a step up from the Ricky May's of the world he had been fighting..

Botha has fought Lennox,Tyson,Holyfield,Wladimir Klitschko, & Michael Moorer during his career..

His best form was about 10 years ago so he won't hurt $BW which is all that matters to me..

Yes and he will also be adding in any revenue from hot dog sales.

Mundine is pretty smart when it comes boxing.
He doesn`t pick too many oponents that have a heart beat let alone throw a punch that connects.
No way he will let his cash cow SBW fight in an actual realistic contest ...
