I think that the level of NSW cup is far below par when you compare it to QLD cup and toyota cup. Many fringe NRL players are rotting away in this nsw comp. I think that adopting a possible loaning strategy, like the English Premier League, may help in these fringe first graders getting a taste of NRL. I know things like squad depth and injuries may falter the idea of it happening but it certainly does seem like a possibility in improving the standard of players in the NRL.
Another thought would also be charging rival clubs a transfer fee for them picking up one of your players. A player like kane linnett last year left us and although he had made his debut for us in the NRL and he was identified by our coaching staff while he was in the reserve grades, we did not financially benefit in anyway from his departure. A lot of hard work goes into developing players and young reserve graders into proper nrl footballers. Charging a transfer fee in a way compensates for all those hard years of work put into players who decide to leave whenever they like.
