  • Truer words have never been spoken

I was just watching Fox Sports News and Billy Slater said something along the lines of

"Belly always finds the negatives of a performance and thats why we are where we are and have been"

Compare this to Smith finding the positives in games we get beaten by 50 in and it gives you a fair picture of why we are at opposite ends of the table. Its almost as if Brian has given up. I really don't like this attitude from a coach rubbing off on younger players.

I know there have been threads ad nauseum about our coach but something went off like a light bulb in me when I heard Billy's interview.

For those who wanted to watch it, heres the link :

Where have they been? The biggest salary cap cheats in history (that were caught)? The originators of the grapple tackle and the wrestle?

The best teams that have won comps have always been able to exploit the rules to their advantage .Bob Fulton was the inventor of it .Beetson was good at it ,Ray Price was another the list goes on.These days coaches get as many players to be sneaky ...at the moment ours are just plain dumb.
You can whinge all your like about Cam Smith for a example .........He is smart and is a winner .How I would like just one of him in our side

I couldn't think of anything worse than playing for a coach who even after you have given your all and played the best game of your life, finds negatives to talk about.

I'm sure Bellamy isn't negative all the time, and the context of what Slater has said could be misconstrued. I'm sure what he means is that Bellamy demands perfection from his players and he is continually looking for areas where his team and players can improve. Smith may very well be the 'praise in public, criticise in private' type of coach. Unless we know what is being said behind closed doors and during match review sessions its pretty hard to make a legitimate comment on this.

I think Smith is playing the confidence line of approach with our young squad hoping they keep their heads up after each loss.
Whilst their effort is there each game,it would be pointless to be negative of them with what boils down is a lack of experience.
Only one way they can gain that.
At least keep the enthusiasm level happening...

Agree with all Brain! No one seems to talk about all the wrestling that in particular bull$cum and $ouff$ do, among other sides that have been doing this year and for the past 4 or 5 years!!

You either be prepared to get down and dirty and be up the top, otherwise you are left behind at the bottom!

As you say our coaching staff of Elliot, Smiffy and Son are just plain dumb as our results speak for themselves!
The year 2013 marks the beginning of the Roosters next 'decade of excellence', and it will prove to be more successful than the last!

                    Here's looking at you, kid.

Thats the point people keep missing.

There is the public persona we see...I can guarantee the response is quite different with the team...as it should be.

Pointless comment as usual seeing has he's never held that position.

And of course Brian is not going to run the team down in public. It's called professional courtesy. You don't bawl out your employees in public.

Ok champ, for starters DERRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!! Why do you think I mentioned that Einstein????????? The whole point which you seemed to miss, was pointing out the fact that Smiffy has not been good enough to coach at state of origin level!!!!!!!! Notice how lately when all the names get tossed up about coaching NSW, Smiffy's name never gets a mention?????????

I notice all your comments are all so intellectual, always on the money, very relevant and worthwhile!!!!!!!!! Especially things such as talking about butterflies and unicorns, brilliant things your nephew says, dancing with the stars, suggesting that the storm are the only team to cheat the cap (you have no idea!!!), telling us how Bellamy won't be heading to Bondi (how would you know??????), you say that Smiffy is too professional to run down the team in public and yet I can recall Smiffy a month or two ago running down 18yr old Moga at a after match press conference.

You believe Bellamy is not the way to go, then who do you think should be coaching us next year and beyond, enlighten us with your as per usual footballing genius???????????????
