It is a nothing rumour anyway.

Jennings said only a month or two ago that he is looking to extend his contract for another 3 years with Panthers, to keep him there until 2014 or something like that.

Wiedler just found out about the get-out clause in the contract, assumed that if Jennings wanted out of Panthers, we would be first in line to be after him, and blabbed it out on the Footy Show.

He makes his own news. There is a section of ninemsn news, I believe, where you can send in rumours to Wiedler. I recall sending in a fake one a few years ago that he actually stated on the show. What at tosser.

He was interviewed on t.v a few days ago about something else which I missed. Then when asked about where he would be playing down the track he didn't seem to handle the question too well.
Again, i think he will go down 2 gears in our club - he just has no connection to it at all. That's just how it feels like to me.

If we had a great, strong culture then i'd think different but at the moment we are still known as the transit lounge. The faster we shed that tag to the bunnies the better.

Right now O'Sullivan is building a much better culture. Look at all the players recently re-signed - almost all of them were Rooster debutants.

        Tom Symonds
        Sammy Perrett
        Ben Jones
        Mitch Aubusson
        Jake Friend
        Anthony Cherrington
        FP Nuuausala
        Shaun Kenny-Dowall
        Mitchell Pearce
Setaimata Sa (I have question marks over him though)

Every one of these blokes made their first grade debuts for the Roosters, and will be part of a long-term retention project. If we re-sign Minichiello for another year, that will add on to the experience and Roosters culture. Even Jared Warea-Hargreaves has only played a handful of games for Manly, not enough to really become an established first grader there, but with us he can become something more. I would very much hope that we re-sign Lopini Paea soon as well, the guy is nt only a great clubman, but quite possible the most underrated prop in the NRL.

The only notable 'purchased players' will be the Bulldogs backrow of Mason, Myles and Anasta, and Todd Carney at five-eighth. You could always say "oh the transit lounge, Kouparitsas and Conn, ex-Bulldogs, signed to Roosters" but really, they are nothing more than depth players to cover for injuries to some of the younger talents like Tom Symonds, who has come on in leaps and bounds this year.

What connection did a young westy from Penrith have to the eastern suburbs back in 1995?

Sa is the least you should worry about. he can play. just needs to sort shit out and be coached in to the back row where he will dominate.

Melon's ideal Roosters side with teh current players available:

            1. Minichiello
            2. Perrett
            3. Symonds
            4. SKD
            5. Mick Hawki
            6. Anasta
            7. Pearce
            8. Lopini
            9. Friend
            10. Myles
            11. Sa
            12. Mason
            13. Morbs

            14. Jones
            15. Waqa
            16. Cherrington
            17. Whatsit-Hargreaves

Highly mobile, highly aggressive, With some steady heads.

With the current players, yeah that is pretty much what I would go with. Although I would swap SKD and Hauraki, and maybe swap Morbs and Symonds.

I know Sa can play, but I am worried we are seeing a Ben Teo MKII - a player with loads of skill, but little heart and effort. If he doesn't put in while he is on the field, there is issues...

              I'd go:

              Mini
              Perrett
              Aubusson/Symonds
              Williamson or Hauraki, doesn't matter
              SKD
              Anasta (Carney if he comes)
              Pearce
              Paea
              Friend
Nuuausala (not sure why you dropped him, he is better than Waqa)
              Mason
              Myles
              Sa (Anasta if Carney comes)

              Jones
              Symonds/Aubusson
              Cherrington
              Warea-Hargreaves

Mate, with Jennings i just don't see it. I could be wrong but i am loving every minute of this rebuilding process. We might uncover dirt or we might uncover gold, but at least they will be our dirt and gold.

you still want anasta at 5/8th considering how crap our attack was under him..look at it now.

                    what about carney?

I can see it now jenning makes a break off his own in goal he runs the length of the field,Cover is coming across .jennings lay out the bananchair and slaps on the 30+ waiting for our wingers to catch up in support -he passes to SKD off the banana chair -SKD gets tackled and inch short of the tryline by an opposition prop forward
Two things are infinite: the universe and human stupidity; and I'm not sure about the universe
