  • Just a thought....

With walsh, austin and seijka already there in the halves and coote seemingly transitioning into the halves along with the recent signing of roberts (who is a fullback predominantly which would make coote at 5/8 even more likely), it seems as though something will have to give in penrith's 'spine' over the next little while as they are slightly over-catered for imo. Taumata remains off-contract at the panthers and seemingly will not be retained beyond this year. I will go out on a limb and say that he is one of the most naturally talented footballers going around and is only 23 this year so hardly too old/past it.

He has been through a few clubs to date (including us back as an 18 year old) due to his misbehaviour but it appears as though he has finally gotten things together (and now also has had his family move across the ditch to help support him which I remember reading earlier this year). I would love to see us maybe pick him up. He wouldnt command very big dollars but is extremely talented and with the flexibility we currently have in our spine (even with maloney coming), as well as taumata's ability to play a number of different positions, it could turn out a really wise acquisition imo. even coote or jennings who have been rumoured to have been shopped around due to their contracts which has only gathered momentum in light of the recent signings penrith have made (naiqama, whare, roberts etc). thoughts.....

We've got Mortimer and Lazurus running around for the jets every weekend, they're pretty handy backups, add Seluini and there's farrk all room left rozwell.

We don't need him and even if we were after some halves depth I still don't think I would take a punt on this serial grub.

taumata is more talented than pearce and maloney and has proven that in first grade already so for mine, its not a matter of we already have a few guys, merely a supposition that could benefit us long-term particularly if he has actually gotten things together again (which would definitely be one of the strict conditions I would impose to underpin such a move). Another young guy I wouldnt mind seeing us go after is mitch moses. he is the nephew of a prominent ex-player (cant remember his name) and is an absolute superstar. Currently contracted to the tigers but with the depth they have in the halves, he may see the light and a better pathway to the top with easts. he and horrie's young bloke who a couple on here have already thrown around are really good young players that we should look at imo.

Think again Roz. He's not good enough to risk him going off the rails again. He's kept his nose clean for a year or so before, only to fall back into bad habits. Unfortunately for those who care for him, stuffing up his life appears to be in his DNA. Like Albert Kelly and other good young footy players who will never reach their potential because of off field issues. Should be kept well clear of our young squad.

Just read this thread and am filthy at the time I have lost. Come on you pricks lift your game. Penrith are worse than us and here we have people suggesting we should take their nuffies. None of them will turn out like Freddy so let the dream die.

                    Roz,

Taumata had his chance at the roosters and blew it. He is another like anthony watts, little angry men.

This talented jerk-off should be nowhere near an easts jumper ever again EVER.
