I'm not one who is going to jump around a lot and cheer and sing all match.
But the important thing is that I was there supporting my footy team, cheering them when they scored and 'encouraging' our players to play the best they can. Which isn't easy when you're voice is giving out on you and your coughing and spluttering in the cold night air.
We all have different ways of showing our support for the team, some more obvious than others. But they are all equally important.

I moved to sit with a friend in Bay 14 and never regretted it. As I posted previously, I tend to zone out at the footy and concentrate on the game with my Sportsears in. I cheer when there's a good run, a try etc and I do yell and swear a little as well. But I do that if and when I feel like it, rather than because others expect it of me.
I shouldn't have gone the past two weeks as it is as I've had a lurgy I'm still struggling to shift, and those hours in the cold air don't help. But like others there on Friday night, we are there to support our team in the best way we can. Our presence alone after the season we've had shows commitment in itself.

But everyone supports there team differently. I scream when we score or we I agree/disagree with a decision. I dont sit there and sceam constantly thinking of sledges. I concentrate on the game.
And I think thats the majority of the people in bay 14 .... Hence not being in the chookpen, we want to enjoy the game watch it and observe our team play and take it all in.
If you are ashamed of how we support our team you should go sit in the chookpen, your call of saying most people sit there with hands in their pocket is a overstatement. Not all supporters have to be hooligans screaming and swearing out loud in front of children, all that stuff is for the chookpen.
I cheered, I booed, I voiced my opinion. But I didnt jump up swearing, I didnt call the ref a c**t, I didn't bang my flag against the chair like it was a drum .... Thats all chookpen stuff.
So I am sorry if we didnt live up to your expectation but maybe you were just looking for friends in the wrong place so to say.
I think you would be an honourable member of the pen.

I support the team in a positive way by trying to let them know that the supporters are behind them.
Surely there is nothing wrong with that?

Definately nothing wrong with that thirteen ... But there isnt anything wrong with watching the game intently and deciding when you want to scream and if you want to scream at all.
Just because people dont scream and shout I dont think it has any affect on how much they support our team.

Geez, I feel bad now. I stayed home because the missus got the dates mixed up and organised a BBQ. I asked my boys if they wanted to go to the game or stay home and play with their mates that we had invited over. I was over-ruled. Yes, soft. Yes, i should've gone by myself. But no. I stayed home, listened to the radio to get score updates and then stayed up until 1030pm to watch the game on Fox. I then watched it again on ch9 at 11 on Saturday and then again on Foxtel in the arvo. I will be there for the last home game though.Member 2008 - forever

thanks nc, I have a very high opinion of shannon and consider him a mate, ive probably met you along the line? im not questioning your commitment! i didnt go to the merge game as i got crook from the cold pen the week before, we do need another leader back in the pen, although thge passion and enthusiasm is still there we do miss that x factor that shannon brought!there was some minor kefuffles with some very silly women, one in particular but that seems over now? just as the pen and fans start to get it together the bloody season is winding down, a bit like our team performances?
