    Yep I dig.

That said Minis best asset was his pace. Sadly he's lost a lot of that pace now. He isn't able to play the way he used to and he has never had the variation in his game of basically all of the other FBs in the comp.

IMO no one wants to bag Mini, they all remember what he did for us, it's just becoming painful to watch now. No one likes to see a legend of the past go on that one year too long. That's what I don't want to see, it get worse next year.

I don't think he's been that bad either mate. I think he always puts in.

It just pains me to see him unable to play like he used to, at that same pace.

Every time he gets creamed, and it's often now almost every kick return, I wince. I still remember when he just bounced off defenders like a bogan moth.

If he could tackle, kick tactically or ball play I wouldn't have a problem with him still playing. But he has never displayed those skills on a regular basis.

A few concerns I have, which I suspect go back to his injuries are he runs around balls on the ground, that's cost us often this season. Also he refuses to get low near the line, his upright running has seen him held up on more than one occasion this season. Also when he hits holes too often he telegraphs his run and the defence just creams him, due to his lack of pace I gather cos he used to be great at that stuff. I don't mention his defence cos it's always been shit.

He can catch a high ball better than any other FB in the game. And he is our long term player so his contract would be heavily subsidized.

I don't know if those two things alone are reasons to keep him in 1st grade.

It's not a personal thing, it's just what I see as a major factor holding the team back, lack of genuine pace.

Looking at the age of our backline, Moga, BJ & Shek, his experience will also be valuable. With Moga, Shek & SKD we're going to have plenty of pace out wide, so i dont see this as being a problem.

And as has already said, i dont think he's been as bad as some have made out, but its all opinion i suppose.

That I agree with mate, his experience will help.

Then again Baloney and $BW will add in that area also.

Maybe moving him to the wing is the option, like some have suggested???

I will say in his defence this year he has looked to me like he's overplaying his hand at times. That would be due to the fact we have a 5/8 who does very little in attack at all.

Hopefully with Baloney and $BWs playmaking abilities he won't feel the need to get involved with almost every play.

                    • Personally I think his ball playing is improving I always thought when Fittler put him to 5/8 there was some method to the madness. Without the pace he once had he is starting to refine his game No he is not a natural ball player But if he works at it He can do the job Two try assists the other night

Personally, i wouldnt move him to the wing as i think putting Shek to fullback so early on is like throwing him in at the deep end & possibly risk him losing confidence. Even Mini played his 1st couple of seasons at wing before moving to fullback. I see our starting backline as

                        Mini

                        Moga(possibly swapped around with BJ)
                        BJ
                        SKD
                        Sheck

                        Maloney
                        Pearce

To me thats a strong backline with a good mix of speed, experience & skill.

You were obviously in a coma for the 1st and last tries we scored the other night

Mini actually cought and passed and that makes him a ball player? no that makes 2 less mistakes he would normally make.

Love the bloke, but his time is way up. he just cannot compete - except for the high ball he's still good at catching bombs.

                              • 2 try assists say otherwise and another faultless display under the high ball suggest otherwise

I do recognise he is in the twilight of his career though
