I agree wiuth Gus .Walker was easily the most naturally gifted player I have ever seen.. if he trained hard and meant business he wouldve been one of the all time greats.
Ill never forget yonks ago when he was supposed to ne out with ankle injury etc ...the truth was he went walk about... turned up to the Brisbane semi final with his gear and said g'day Im ready to play. Its the only time Gould started him from the bench.Walker had missed through the years a hell of a lot of training but Gould was always happy if he just turned up on game day.Two things are infinite: the universe and human stupidity; and I'm not sure about the universe

He didnt have to run at holes. He just ran straight over the top of defenders creating holes.
Still have the visions of him from 1975 rd.17 running like a steam train in our 44-7 romp against the Dragons...

As a five-eighth we never saw the best of him, but as soon as Gus switched him to fullback, boy, was he dynamic. He was our X factor for a while there. If you look up the word "mercurial" in the dictionary -- there's a picture of Uncle.
Still holds the club record, too, for requesting the most number of free tickets to a home game -- I think it was 75 for one game.
