Why would the Rooster players hate Smith?

It doesn't matter if he can coach or not. If he cannot relate to the players or inspire them then you have to replace him. Brian is known for being old school and we go on a policy of playing a bunch of gen y kids.. It can only end in disaster.. It may largely be the players fault but there is no point in going with a recruitment and retention strategy that results in players who will hate his methods. You either find another 17 players or you find 1 coach who can better relate to the players.. It is not rocket science what needs to be done.

I agree to a point, but where do you draw the line with the players? If Smith is sacked many of our players will have seen off 3 coaches. What happens if they don't relate to the next one? Or the next?

Wonder what he thinks of these young coaches winning premiership's already ie: stuart, hasler, bellamy, etc when he's been coaching for donkeys and yet......still no premiership?????? Been there few times yes but no ring is getting a team to a GF an achievment or going 1 step further a doing the lap of honour?

Chook does raise a good point in why do our players hate Smiffy when he does not get them to work as hard and with less pressure on them to perform compared to most other clubs. In most work places employee's would love this scenario from their boss. Rugby league is different, players want to achieve something and they have no confidence in Smiffy and Smiffy gives them no confidence along with there being no team spirit under him which is a massive problem, so therefore the players feel like they are incapable of achieving anything. Also Smiffy's personality is a big thing, he rubs them up the wrong way, grates on them and they can't relate to him.

There was 'yet another' article in the papers today referring to the players having low team morale under Smiffy, this one from the Sunday Telegragh;

What I can't understand is with all the raging smoke that there is around with constant talk about the players having a strong dislike for Smiffy and not responding to him anymore, along with our results and how the players are performing speaking for themselves, the 'I love Smiffy even when he becomes detrimental to the club brigade' continue to deny that there is any truth to it at all and believe that it is all just a ruse???????

I realize the brigade's love for him is blinding them but is it a case of like Basil in Fawlty Towers, where he is adamant in saying that whatever we do we must not mention the war to the Germans in the hotel, which then translates to the brigade insisting "at all costs, whatever we do we must not mention that the players dislike Smiffy"???
