  • Wingers 2027 - Murray Taulagi

With Marky M back to union in 2027 and toops a good chance of retiring post 2026 we are in the need for 2 wingers for 2027
i don’t think we will recruit 2 wingers with many upgrades and extensions coming on but potentially will go hard for one current first grade winger and the other fill internally

Murray Taulagi on the nose at the cowboys would be a great one to get for $500-600k - big body and good in the air
then potentially other spot open to a talau or someone for 2027 if they take their chance next year
    thoughts?

    Yes please.

He'll look great in Adidas attire!

Hate to be a downer but Jnr Topou seems a poor acquisition at this time.

Was more of the depth signing and phins also covering some of his wage
I think he debut was bad but the team was poor that weekend as well - he has a lot more to offer and has shown more in the nrl then his debut for us showed
potentially between him, talau, pauga and Rex bass for the other wing spot in 2027

Very good player but I can't see us paying his asking price, especially when we will try and get Marky back not long after the world cup.

When depth players are low on confidence they can appear more like park footballers which is the case with Jnr Topou.

Somehow Bellamy can get the average Joe to believe in himself and do the job.

Confidence is so important in professional sport!

Reports out today that Taulagi is leaving the Cows. I would not be surprised if we have a crack at him. Not only could both our starting wingers be gone at the end of the season, but he is also the type of winger Robbo likes - big body, good yardage getter.

Is there no way that Tom Rodwell could become as top class winger?

                  Hard to know smaller body
did okay in nsw cup, could play nrl but unsure if you would say he could be a top class winger or not

Exactly fits right into the mould of wingers we like
height and size and yardage is king for wingers atm
otherwise other ones I’d look at are Garrick who can kick goals and cover fullback, centre and wing

Yeah I like Garrick as well - from memory we tried to sign him a few years back as well. like how we signed Robson this time last year to fill a gap, this year i can see us doing the same with an established outside back

Yeah he's just reserve grade isn't he? Played some NRL and despite the name got dominated on both sides of the park. Presumably he's not Danny's younger brother who they call 'junior'?

Losing Toops, Mark N, Sua'ali'i, Manu and Young? Farking hell ay.

Junior Pauga's still on our books isn't he, though he's a mid-tier centre approaching 30 or so.

Highlights why we have to farkin' murder the comp in 2026. The window could slam shut in 2027.
