Benny is signed until end of 2028. We have two years before other teams can poach him. We'll know by then whether he is worth a highly paid long-term contract and possibly letting Robson go a year earlier.
You know it's a bad 4 year signing when we're talking about "letting him go" a year before his 4 year deal expires - in 3 years time - before he's even played a game for us!!

Newsflash - no-one will want to buy him in 3 years time when we're trying to "let him go a year early".

I am entertaining your belief in a rookie who was gassed after only 15 minutes in the Sharks final.

If we win the lottery and end up with two topline hookers with coach opting for the younger one. What would you do if you were 30yo Robson and coach tapped you to look elsewhere a year earlier?
      1) Dig your heels in, risk a serious injury, and risk playing on the bench or reggies, and also risk reducing your market value
      2) Accept a sweetener from the Roosters and go find one final 3-year contract at another club.

"no-one will want to buy" a rep hooker who still has a few good years in him. Give me a break.

Murray will walk back into that squad they really missed him but he will be he and Yeo as the 13 and 15 (backrow replacement) I still think they will pick a utility or 2nd hooker as 14
young will be the one on the bench to make way
Brailey will be fine was backup hooker to grant in the Aus squad and similar size to Robson and grant! If your good enough age won’t matter for Api
Watson utility will help him in the 14 battle but a loosing side there will be many players in danger

I’d have to disagree about Brailey. He’s definitely the best hooker in New South Wales these days. I think he’s a certainty to get the job next year.

Now we're projecting who might want to buy a 30yo Robson who "still has a few years left in him". After we cut him in 3 years time.

It''ll be Super League at best, but could be Ron Massey Cup.

Benny will be 24 in 3 years time, and a star of the game. With still a further 3 years in front of him before he gets to how old Robson is......today.

Robson will become a bench player with us, because Benny will very soon be twice the player Robson is.

Passing from both sides off the deck, right on the ad line. Throw in a few 20m balls in attack 5m out for Walker to work his magic. All that while plugging up the middle leading the defensive line speed with minimal missed tackles.

I think he’s going to be expected to make a thousand tackes a game.

I think quite a few of you underestimate the value of good, consistent service from dummy half. So many times our attack was stilted by runners having to stop to take a pass, not to mention the number of times that passes went completely behind the runners. Hitting runners on the chest as they accelerate onto the ball makes an enormous difference to your attacking game.

Robson will help transform our attack, and shore up our defence. He will shine in a decent team.

he'll be good. i'm wondering if the plan is for him to play the full 80. if so there probably isn't a place for either hugo or benny in the 17 because connor can cover

It’s a good signing and he’s in the mould of a no frills defensive focused dummy half. Players like Mitch Kenny at the Riff have shown in recent seasons that hookers just need to make their tackles and provide good service in modern PVL ball. Robson does that very well.

I do wonder how we fit Benny I into the fold though as I think he’s an excellent player.

Great signing, current Origin player who will be able to mainly be a defensive hooker I guess given that Tedesco, Walker, DCE and Watson are all strong attacking players.

Our centres who are top attacking players have suffered from a lack of good early ball so I’m hoping robsons slick service from dummy to Evan’s can fix this the forwards will also benefit from running off Robson good signing by the club

I expect someone who passes the ball off the ground and gives the ball to our halves when they call for it.
I also expect he knows how to count to 5 and will never run the ball on the last tackle.

Watson was a terrible dummy half and hopefully we never see him there again.
