Mitch needs a game plan instead of everyone just waiting around waiting for him to be smart. Everybody has to do their job. We are failing in a few areas. Our entire spine is questionable. The problem is not that Mitchell Pearce can't win us the game on his own. We spend too much of our time working it out from our line after a tough defensive effort. Too many mistakes and no relief from penalties. It's harder for a halfback to work himself into the game when you have no field position. There are areas where he must improve but he is only young and he will benefit from these experiences. I'm hearing Sticky will Stick with him. We should too.

Making a clutch play like that field goal attempt can not be coached, you have it or you dont, he just doesn't.

The only tick i give to Pearce is every top class matchwinner wants the ball in their hands in that situation, unfortunately for him and more importantly the Roosters he is not a matchwinner.

i agree with the first part of that. his decision making when the game was on the line was horrible. particularly when we had zero tackle on their 20 and he went for the field goal when he was under so much pressure - all he had to do was hand it off to FPN next to him, quick play the ball and take it the next tackle when he would have had a bit more time. He has a long way to go still but he did lay on 2 of our tries - one with the perfect kick, the other with the perfect pass. His kicking game was also pretty good - at least as good as carneys.

well i could use the excuses like " the dragons have no go forward", " he has shit players around him", " he is poorly coached", "he is only young" but those excuses are patented and can only be used by rooster's fans to defend young inexperienced mitch.

The Eggfather, has hit the nail on the head, our spine this year, wouldn't carry a baby's weight, they are all inept, in all sorts of ways for eg.

1. Mini - The only skill he has now is catching the high ball, he doesn't drop too many of them, other players pick him up and carry him back or sideways 10 metre's, like he is a rag roll, and his side way running makes it easier for them to do that. He drops nearly every short ball he gets, some not his fault, badly timed passes, and he is forever in the way, making things harder for the ball to be spread.That contract renewal was a disgrace, he should be of to Italy Rugby, or EPL, for his retirement money, the contract should be voided, and id he was fair dinkum with himself, he's tear it up himself.
6. Anasta - Had had a season from hell, and been a liabilty on the field, most of the games this season, Smith should had the balls to introduce him to the Newtown Coach, as soon as he signed with the Tigers.
7. Pearce - Has had more then enough time now, to iron out the obvious flaws in his game, yet no improvement has been noticed, in any of the various kicking styles, needed during a game, has no idea how to get a repeat set of six, and while he tackles ok alot of the time, he seems to get bumped off in the important tackles, that let tries in. Wayne his dad, wasen't an overly gifted player, but the worked at his game, I dont think Mitchell has that same dedication, wont be sorry to see him join Saints.
9. A toiler at best, his biggest problem is he is the slowest dummy half out of the ruck, in the comp, and his choice of who to pass too, is usually the wrong person most times. Does his share of defence, but thats not enough these days.

Couldn't agree more Burnt Rooster, when he gets the ball he looks like he doesn't know whether to run or pass so he does his stupid two step shuffle, and then passes (as you say usually to the wrong person) and by this time the defence is usually in the face of the person receiving the ball, which greatly contributes to our amount of dropped balls. Seluini made him look really average last night, which is no surprise as Friend is really average.
