I like that DCE is only at $500k, that is not that much more than Townsend was on this season.

However if it comes at the expense of Sandon, Hugo and even Jake Elliot just for one season, it's a bad business decision.
Going all in on Rodwell without having any competition for the spot is a huge risk.

I will continue spouting this all off season but i hope our long term spine is:

    6. Rodwell
    7. Walker
    9. Robson
    13. Savala

I can honestly see that working....

Could be two, said to be a clause in the contract.

We need to up our completion rate.
We need to know what we're doing in games.
You never know, with DCE the ball might fly along the backline to our centres and wingers on both sides of the field, like it does at other clubs.
We need to win games...whatever it takes.

So can I, and I hope it comes true.

Right now though...we lost the the finals game and need to keep improving...at least DCE is experienced (as Trent said).

Hugo would be wise to stay at the Roosters if he can get a suitable contract, and learn to be the great player he shows promise to be.

Time will tell if this is a master stroke or a dud.

DCE might bring game management, level head and get some on field discipline to cut down the idiot errors.

Tbh I've been Yeah and Nah with this decision. But he's here now and just hoping he has a positive influence on the team so we see our real potential.

Don't want Hugo to leave but if he wants to test his value then he's free to do that.....he might fid there aint no place like home

The backlash the club has been getting online since announcing this signing is crazy.

Caught up with my good mate Smithy over a nice breakfast and he reckons that winning a comp with Sammy is going to be difficult unless he plays alongside a specialist top tier organising halfback who controls things and calls the shots. He thinks this is why Robbo recruited DCE albeit at the tail end of his career.

Smithy thinks Rodwell is key to our long term success as he's pliable when it comes to learning how to manage, control and shut down a game where as Sammy is 100% off the cuff. Walker can potentially be a liability and ineffective in a tight game where less is more and controlled selective play is key!

He also thinks that Rodwell and Savala are more likely to win a comp as a pairing before Sammy and Savala do. I found this very interesting as I love Sammy!

My biggest takeout from our chat was how highly he rated Rodwell and it was clear to me that he considers him a generational talent.

                I bet!

Savala is a local junior who bleeds red white and blue. He held his own in a rebuild year and helped resurrect our season! He should be rewarded for his efforts and given the opportunity to start the season playing alongside Sammy.

Is this Robinson saying I need a marquee signing to win a comp. IMO, this bloke was a marquee signing 2 or 3 years ago.

Robinson should back his coaching ability to win another flag with young halves, great defense and excellent discipline like Cleary did with the Panthers.

Anyway, not much us fans who are against the signing can do now.

                  Here's hoping for a great 2026 season.

                  (and re sign Wong NOW).
Or you can compare it to what an experienced half did for the Broncos in Adam Ryenolds, We have a similar playing style & team on paper to the Broncos but without that calm experienced half, Enter Cheri- Evans!!!

I feel the same way about Rodwell to a point where if Walker was to go I wouldn’t be too concerned. Plus he’s a huge liability in defence.

I feel exactly the same as your mate. Walker has X factor but we need a good half to run things preferably with a long kicking game

Don’t worry, DCE, we won’t give you a hard time when you tell us you are leaving at the end of the year.

                              Loved Hugo's comments in the telegraph today, along the lines of;

"I think I'm a starting half in the NRL, I'm 23 now, not 18 or 19, and I've worked really hard to get here". He went on to suggest he's not resigned to losing his spot, and looking forward to the challenge of next season.

Farking oath he's a starting half in the NRL. He's more than that. Bring it on. Just because cherry evans has signed doesn't guarantee he plays first grade. Who knows how it'll unfold. Cherry Evans gets injured, Hugo plays too well to be left out. We start poorly with cherry evans, cherry evans is dropped, and Hugo takes over. Maybe Walker gets injured.

I'm backing Hugo to keep his spot.

I am not surprised by this.

                                I don't get the signing.

This better not upset team harmony. DCE is a polarising character.
