  • What do you love about the club?

Ok. There's a ton of threads and posts floating around covered in negative slimy glue, going on about how useless they think Pearce is, or how Uncle Nick should step down or that Smithy needs to be sacked........

But really, apart from the trolls and the chicken brained evolutionary disasters who support other clubs, we have joined this forum because we love Easts.

So to shun this fog of negativity here is a bubbly thread for us to discuss what we love about the Roosters

    1) The Uniform. Less now that it's covered in logos, but it's a great outfit. The red and white V on a blue background, with hoops on the sleeves, white shorts with the blue and red stripe on their side, and those glorious socks.....we have the best uniform in rugby league

    2) The history. The only club to have played in every single season of first grade rugby league in Australia. 12 premierships. More aussie internationals than any other club. Most wins in first grade. 38-0. 19 wins in a row. This club is the most prestigous in Australia.

    3) The great players. From DallyM to Dave "The Bradman of League" Brown, Ray Stehr, Artie, Big Jack (more of a coach than a player), Ronnie Coote, Horrie, Freddy, Fitzy........some all time greats have worn our colours

    4) We did not sign with sewer league. Pretty self explanatory. We did not succumb to the megabucks that News LTD were offering. We stayed loyal to the ARL. If not for this (and Manly's loyalty too) the ARL would have died.

    5) Our rich reputation. I love this. Lesser clubs look to us and see our dollars. Uncle Nick as Chairman, Gyng and others close by. Based in the most affulent suburbs in Sydney. Whoever we want to sign, we get (except for Bennett). Others look at this money and power as if it's a bad thing, but really it's a great thing. Drinking lattes is sure better than drinking metho like souffs fans, shit bourbon like the bogans out west, xxxx like the banana benders....

So what do you love about Easts?

We really have hit rock bottom when we're talking about our Jerseys

I am of the opinion that the Roosters do the job when it comes to recruiting youngsters. We have virtually no junior base but our record in the junior comps over the last decade or so has been quite good. We just gotta get them to kick on for us.

          Our glory days early 2000's.
Not much now it's just fans must stay loyal.
I don't really like the jersey it's ok just want a new design. The Warriors ripped it off but it looks better.

I enjoy the fact we get who we want. I dislike the fact that Smith is our coach. I like the fact we have a promising future. I dislike the fact that we have Sydney in our name Easts sounds better IMO I'd rather have a cabbage name like Bondi over Sydney.

I like the fact that we loyal players who sign massive contracts e.g Skd, Mini, Pearce. Sure some of em r young but Skd signed a 4 year deal, Mini has been around for eons and Pearce doesn't look like leaving.

I watch a show called The Contrarians on Skynews. Rather po-faced the presenter Peter Van Onseken has a segment "say something nice about the Gillard government", at the moment this club gets the same segment.

One thing I can say is that we have Daniel Mortimer. And my greatest wish is that he is paired in the halves with James Maloney next year.

Seriously dude Mortein is a fill in at best.

He makes Pearce look like a playmaker, and that ain't easy.

              The FlogPen .

              You know it makes sense.

Under a decent coach, Morts and Maloney would become a force.

I've been asking myself the same question all year. It'll come down to how many games I've decided to retain over the off season to watch again. At this stage of 2012 there are none.

                  Chook.

Imagine your dream, Mortein and Baloney and Tubular Bells and DA and no $BW.

I reckon within 6 rounds you'd have everyone on here ready to find the noose.

Seriously I'm not bagging your ideas, I see the value, I just doubt it would ever happen.

I've made a commitment to not pillory James Maloney or my man Oldfield next year. Backing them to the hilt.

If you think that of me then you do not have an opinion worth reading.

I was down on the whoremonger son before it was fashionable.

John, Mortimer has been in and out of first grade for 4 years - how many clubs do you think are lining up for his signature?

He is a fringe first grader and will be unlikely to finish his career with 100 first grade games.

Pearce and Maloney will be a very good halves pairing for us next year. Pearce may not be the messiah but he is a very good half back and Maloney is a very good 5/8. Between them we will be fine.

I love the fact that wankers who support this great club, are given the right to hijack a legit thread and use it for their own self righteous banter.Back to the subject matter,I love supporting the greatest team on the face of the Earth ,sitting at the SFS the greatest stadium in Australia with my mates having a beer and a laugh.Sure were not travelling to well but WTF,It's still the oldest and greatest club in the NRL.
