Can't understand the popularity of S&S. The segment where the text of a book is sung to the tune of some obscure 90s album track is so annoying and there's nothing from the 50s besides. But just sayin', each to his own.

Or her own lol. You should try having to sing it yourself for the other players to guess. I’m shocking at it and the family say I spend so much time giggling at my own inability that it’s pointless.

For me it's a very comforting show but I agree with you regarding that segment and a few others as it's hard to concentrate. They do reference the 1950's a fair bit and the theme song was written in 1966. The guests are from all generations so there is something for everyone and like many of our forum members, I have an extensive musical knowledge but I will always learn something from watching the program as we can never ever know it all. The hosts are all amiable and well respected. Nothing snarky or negative on the show at all unlike most other so called light entertainment. There is a reason why it's been on air for so many years.

Spicks and Specks is one of my favourite shows, the latest series have been good but the original run was by far my favourite, so many great guests, laughs and memories.

Well said RWB and everything you say is true. Well done ABC. I do watch when too lazy to find the remote but you're right, light entertainment is not my thing usually

It's the only light entertainment program I watch and I'm pretty sure my sisters who are closer in age to you would agree. . Most you've mentioned over the years on here I find distasteful too. . I only watch this, Gruen & Roosters games live.

Nobody's good at it MR. I'm deaf so lyrics aren't an obstacle, the tune is all, but I still get nothing tune-wise (not stone deaf). Understandable when it turns out to be the Pixies or the Go-Betweens and you tuned out in the 80s.

Mine too. I’ve been watching it from the start and love the originals more too. My daughter watches it with me too now. She’s good at guessing the answers to the modern songs, I’m better between the 60’s and 90’s.
