I am happy with this signing. A lot more upside than downside.

Anyone who fights back from adversity like he did is pretty good. Real improver before his setbacks.

The Dragons were only able to offer him a development contract for 2026 with a possibility of a full time contract in 2027.

The Dragons should also be given credit as despite not be able to play they were still paying him his contract money during his time out of the game - some other clubs may have went down the medical retirement path and had the insurance cover the wages.

Not a bad nsw cup back up for fullback and wing
gives time to allow Rex to get some more game time before being put up on nrl if injury occurs
was very quick will be interesting to see if he can get back to his best

Wish him all the best but this gives me Corey Allen vibes

More to offer than Junior Tupou. Can run and catch.

Saw an article on him recently and he was saying he was keen to get a new contract at the Merge so interesting. I think it’s a good signing as we definitely need depth at fullback and the backs in general

He’s got a bit of x-factor. I think he can thrive at a decent club. I like it.

Nothing official from this club yet, but the Dragons have confirmed he is leaving “to pursue an opportunity at another club”.

Good news. Cody showed a lot of potential before his illness, and reportedly was getting back to his best this year in NSW Cup.

Cody Ramsey has speed, can bust tackles and has a bit of flair about him. Corey Allen is just a solid type player- they are not alike in any way.
I agree with Juggler that he is better than Junior Tupuo.

Im a bit perplexed that St G only offered him a base contract- its not as if they have a backline that has got much punch

The Sydney Roosters are poised to sign Cody Ramsey, luring the fullback away from St George Illawarra on the promise of a two-year deal.

The comeback story of the year, Ramsey has proven an inspiration with his return to the game after an 896-day hiatus as a result of an ulcerative colitis diagnosis.

Ramsey required his entire large bowel to be removed in 2023.

He returned to the field last season with the Dragons, advancing all the way to the NSW Cup grand final.

The Dragons stood by the 25-year-old throughout the painstaking ordeal and had made no secret of their desire to hold onto the talent by offering him a development contract for 2026, with additional amount-of-game clauses that would secure him an NRL contract for 2027.

However, it’s the Roosters that pressed hard for Ramsey’s signature, with the talent agreeing to terms on a two-year development deal.

“His journey inspired us all,’’ Dragons CEO Tim Watsford said.

“He is held in very high esteem here and we were proud to stand by him as he battled to return from his illness.

“He is a very impressive young man, and although the club worked through many options for Cody to remain in the Red V, it ultimately wasn’t to be, and we wish him and his family every success going forward.’’

Ramsey’s last NRL appearance was in round 25, 2022.

The Roosters view Ramsey as the perfect bridge between Dally M champion James Tedesco and 18-year-old schoolboy talent Rex Bassingthwaighte, who will move into the Roosters top-30 roster in 2027.
