  • Teddy to have another round of stem cell treatment on his degenerative knee condition

Has been reported that it was not only his Brother's wedding that made Teddy pull out of Kangaroo Tour contention he is having another knee stem cell procedure to help with his degenerative knee condition that he has been managing for the last 3-4 years.

I wouldn't be too concerned, Teddy isn't getting any young and played every game for us this season.
He seems to have these treatments every other year

These treatments are a positive rather than a negative.

Given the way he played this year, sign me up for some of these stem cells.

Great news for the Roosters that he’s pulled out of the Kangaroos tour. He’s been getting the stem cell treatment for a while now and to date it’s worked brilliantly for him.

Teddy is a class act, perhaps his stem cell therapist can help out a certain forward with brain cell treatment.

we'll have a lot of players picked for internationals but the two who will most benefit from a rest have ruled themselves out. can't hurt the roosters

Who is the other one who’s opted out zac? I only know of Teddy.

It's his way of telling the selectors to GFY after his premature axing from both state and national teams ....as capt too, I might add.
Goodonya Teddy for standing your ground and for proving them doubters wrong! We've certainly benefited having you on uninterrupted club duties.

Will the Kangaroos be able to field a competitive squad with players dropping out. Should still win though despite the dropouts.

I suppose this means that Reece Walsh will get the Fullback Gig over Dylan Edwards as he looks another player that could do with a rest from Footy.

Tbh great for Teddy and the roosters

allthough there is a burning desire for him to go over there and take Edward’s spot as he deserves to otherwise Edward’s will be the incumbent and prove the doubters wrong with Edward’s getting dropped

Edward’s was cooked this year making many errors

Teddy just class at 32 winning RLPA players of the year and will win the dally m again

Seen a bit in the news about NRL players doing “stem cell repair work” on their knees. Worth noting this stuff is non-invasive compared to surgery (it's basically an injection into the joint), but it’s still very much unproven.

Meta-analyses show a small pain/function benefit at 6–12 months, but nothing close to a cure. There's no evidence of cartilage magically growing back and the Cochrane crowd reckon the overall effect size is probably modest at best.

At this stage it’s more the sort of thing people do in the hope it works, especially if they’re desperate to avoid going under the knife. Not total snake oil, but definitely not solid medicine either.

I figure it's the sorta thing that at best might work a little and at worst won't do anything. If you're a $1m a year player who also eats a good diet, trains like a champ and does a stack of proven pre-hab looking to do every 1% thing you can to stay on to of the game then hey... why not?
