Rodwell did an "ok" job but didn't come out and show anything spectacular especially for a first-grade standard.

Some players in the winger position that are off contract at the end of 2026 are:
    • Reuben Garrick
    • Sione Katoa
    • Selwyn Cobbo
    • Will Warbrick
    • Moala Grahan-Taufa
Id take Garrick - strong defensively, athletic, has speed, covers wing and centre, very few mistakes and can kick goals if needed

I hope we get Marky back in 2028 even if it means paying him $1m and moving him into the centres before moving him to fullback when Teddy retires.
He's not fast enough and able to break tackles/the line enough to be a top shelf FB on $1m a season?

I'd like to see young Rex Bass blooded on the wing, while doing an apprenticeship under Teddy to eventually take over FB.

He is fourth in the NRL for tackle breaks and only one fullback -Teddy - and no other winger are ahead of him, And he’s fast enough to top the try scoring list. He would be a sensation at fullback and worth a million. But I doubt that will be enough to get him back.

Marky has embarrassed a few wingers with his agility, and has the size and strength of a second rower. He would have no problem creating overlaps and attracting multiple defenders. Then there is that flick pass and and short kicking game.

Regarding alternative wingers. I will throw Reimis Smith as a possibility. Just "retired" at 28 and I bet he would play on for a team like the Roosters. Toia close to the best defensive centre in the comp. We don't need a superstar winger, we just need someone tall who can catch a ball. The money saved can strengthen the team elsewhere.

Jackson Stewart, Jeizah Papa, Lui Lee & William Malloy all promising centres coming through the grades who could be blooded into first grade on the wing.

We also have Felipe Fakauho who has been selected for the Australian Schoolboys this year and signed up for the next couple of years & EJ Mahu-Delamere who was the winger in our SG Ball winning grand final side, also really aggressive ball carrier out of backfield and has nice footwork.

I would expect Robinson to back himself with that talent and then use Rodwell, Pauga & Junior Tupou where he needs.

The club has some serious young talent coming through and I'm sure they're conscious of remaining flexible in the cap to retain these kids. We don't need to go out and lock ourselves into any more Brandon Smith/Dom Young type deals. Unless an elite talent becomes available I just back Robinson to get the most out of what he already has like he did this year with Toia, Smith & Nawaqanitawase.

I suspect they also were aware of some issues JAC might have had and knew they already had a ready made replacement to take his spot. Didn't exactly turn out well for the Bulldogs. No one identifies Wing talent like the Storm.

Melbourne are such a good development club they're always going to lose talent they want to keep. The salary cap comes for every club (Well at least when they stopped cooking the books).

                    Tino goes ok too.

Of those centres/wings you mentioned who would you say are the ones with the edge?
Size wise do they compare to Toups and Marky?

Titans are having a fire sale on their outside backs currently
I wouldn't mind Khan-Pereira but he looks to be off to the Warriors, Phillip Sami is an Origin player who would look great in a decent team.

Lui Lee playing NSW Cup @ 17 shows how big a wrap the club has on him

I'd be trying to get Tuaupiki or Ali Leiataua from the Warriors as they will be trying to squeeze those 2 + CNK, DWZ, Berry, AKP, RTS, Pompey into 5 positions
The issue from now is competing with the likes of Perth & PNG for signings

The Roosters would have to pay them double to get them & guess what the Roosters dont do that anymore.
Silly of people to think we can just walk in & take players from a rival powerhouse clubs.
The scenario this year was how are we going to replace Manu & Suaalii then all of a sudden Toia & Smith step up to the plate.
We wont be buying high profile wingers from other clubs mark my words.
Of course they would for the right player.

Smith was always around it was only injury preventing him from playing more. I don't think Suaalii would have played left centre if Smith didn't get injured.

As for Toia, the club have known for some time that he was a first grader. Only injury prevented him from playing earlier.

Jackson Stewart looks the classiest of them all, has a bit of Manu about him the way he swerves and stutter steps. Covered fullback and centre in SG Ball then played a little wing, mostly centre in Jersey Flegg to finish the season.

Lui Lee is highly rated, cousin of Brenko & Edrick Lee. Great footwork, big body and loves an aggressive yardage carry, I think he could make a good winger.

In terms of size Jeizah Papa (rated 2nd best schoolboy prospect by the DailyTelegraph) looks the most physically gifted, promoted from Harrold Matts to Jersey Flegg this year but I expect he will play SG Ball next year so he's still a year or two away from First Grade IMO.

Some footage of Papa below, mainly plays as a centre these days but covers the halves when there's injuries.

Daniel Tupou could play on if he wants to as still performing.

Toops is getting close to most games for the Roosters, which may be an incentive for one more year if he doesn't break the record in 2026.

                              Toops tally is 287 games.

I thought Anthony Minichiello's most games (302) would be hard to beat when he passed Luke Ricketson (301) but Mitchell Aubusson (306) passed him and then JWH (310) passed Mitchell's most games to be the most games' leader.

Anthony missed 50 to 60 games though, and JWH missed a season or so from his suspensions.

How many games Jake Friend ( 264) would have played if not for early retirement in 2021 is unknown. Ditto for Mitchell Pearce who was moved on by the club - played 309 NRL games overall and 238 games for the Roosters
