The court case is still ongoing though, and in reality it's circumstantial evidence at best until tested in court.
No evidence that Brandon was trying to manufacture/manipulate some event in a game that bets were placed on and not like, say the Ryan Tandy one.
I don't expect him to be deregistered now when seeing other info relating to these allegations, as how does the NRL justify it when you consider the Mam case, which was far more serious and Mam was somehow given a lighter sentence by the courts despite what he did.
he passed on info that allowed someone to place a bet at inflated odds. the argument is that if it was generally known that he was starting his odds for scoring a try would have come down.
it's the same as insider trading on the stock exchange

That's questionable I'd say.
Either way at the very least his conduct undermines the integrity of the sport.
The NRL could have questioned Walsh, though, when he was over the try line, and he passed the ball to another Broncos' player to score.
Has Brandon Smith ever been the first try scorer in a game though?
The worst attempt I have seen as far as betting on an incident was the Pakistan spot-fixing involving two of their bowlers—Mohammad Asif and Mohammad Amir, along with captain Salman Butt, bowling a no ball in a certain delivery of a certain over.
Very obvious something was a miss when significant amounts of money was placed on these no-ball incidents to occur at these specific times in the overs being bowled.
You can see Mohammad Asir was not just overstepping the mark, he was well over - had a brief discussion with Captain Salam Butt, before he bowled it.
Commentators Michael Holding and Ian Botham picked up on it.
All three were given prison sentences - Amir 6 months (5-year ban from international cricket), Asif 1 year (7-year ban from International Cricket) and Butt 30 months (10-year ban from international cricket)
All served half their prison sentences. Amir was the only one of the three to play International Cricket again.
