looking on the bright side it will give foketi and steep more game time and victor can come back like a man on a mission
On NRL 360 they said net cost to Radley would be around $200,000.

A surprising outcome, but one that makes sense in the context of there being no physical evidence of actual drug taking. The club may not have been able to meet the threshold required to sack him under the conditions of his contract.
10 games will be a huge wait for him. If one of the young guns like Steep or Foketi shine in his absence, he might not walk back into the starting lineup.

Speaking to The Sydney Morning Herald the chairman explained why the Tricolours didn't part ties with Radley and believes their "severe course of action" was enough.
"I think if the grounds were there for us to rip up his contract, we would have ... but we didn't have that," Politis said.
"He wasn't charged with anything, so there were no grounds to terminate his contract.
"Could we have gone down the path of sacking him for bringing the club into disrepute? Maybe, but we would have left ourselves open to a wrongful dismissal [case].
"We took the most severe course of action available to us. Tell me, which other club would have imposed the sanctions that we did?
"If you look at the definition of zero tolerance, it's the harshest punishment you can impose on a person that is available to you.
"I can't remember the last time anyone has ever been suspended without pay. Players have tested positive for drugs and have got minimal suspension and still got paid for it."
The Herald also revealed that head coach Trent Robinson and general manager Mitchell Aubusson both fronted the Roosters board of directors to help persuade them not to sever ties with one of the club's only true local juniors.Last edited by Swamptrout; 09-18-2025, 10:33 PM.

Love Uncle Nick, but really wish he didnt talk to the media as much as he has. This all could have been minimised if he didnt make those original unprompted comments in relation to souffs handling of Latrell Mitchell's cocaine photo. And saying they wanted to sack Radley but couldn't for legal reasons shouldn't be given on record to a journalist at our awards ceremony IMO.

"What is zero tolerance", Politis said.
"You have to weigh all this up very carefully with your lawyers".
"Zero tolerance means you punish a player more severely than we ever have before."
"He didn't want to leave and he's copped his penalty which is the heaviest we've ever handed down to a player".
Considering Radley's $750,000 annual salary, the 10-game suspension without pay equates to about $140,000 in lost wages.
Radley has agreed to sign a legal paper that he accepts the punishment.Last edited by bondi.boy; 09-19-2025, 06:30 AM.

In short
uncle nick and the board were going to tear up his contract
robbo and aubo pleaded with the board not to and outlined the reduced plan of 10 weeks, no pay and charity payment
board accepted
uncle nick did this only for the roosters best interests
he will cop some flack for going against his work but no other club would propose such a harsh punishment

The 5 other guys involved surely will tip in financially to help Rads out. Im pretty certain that the golf trip coincided with Angus's wedding and these guys are the players up there for the bucks to play golf on the sunny coast.
Im trying to remember who was there.

The Fox mob kept on saying these are very harsh punishments and are glad Victor didn't get sacked, but on the other hand Roosters have backed away from their tough stance on drugs by not sacking Victor ??? Particularly Jake Duke ... I caught the end of whatever show he fronts, seemed he was delighting in having a dig at Nick for "walking away from their tough stance" for not sacking VR.
If these are the toughest penalties ever handed down, and far heavier than penalties that other players (like Ezra, Latrell, Pongia etc) received for far worse indiscretions, then surely that's not walking away from taking a hardline !
