  • Club Statement | Victor Radley

The Sydney Roosters are aware of references in the media to communications allegedly between Sydney Roosters player Victor Radley and others in relation to allegedly obtaining an illegal substance.

While Radley has not been charged by Queensland Police, the references in the media to communications allegedly between him and others have brought the Sydney Roosters into disrepute.

Consequently, following internal discussions with senior club officials and a meeting of the Roosters Board of Directors, the Club will impose the following sanctions on Radley for the negative attention the allegations have brought to the Club:
    • A 10-match suspension, without pay.
    • A $30,000 donation to be made to the St Vincent’s Hospital (for cancer research).

This represents the heaviest sanction ever imposed on a player in the Club’s history.

Victor Radley has accepted these sanctions and expressed his remorse.

“I want to sincerely apologise to the Club, my teammates, our sponsors, Members and fans for the negative spotlight I have brought on the Roosters. I accept the sanctions in full and will work hard to earn back the trust and respect of everyone who supports this great Club,” said Radley.

Well done Roosters. This is a very good decision. Watch the media try and rip Nick apart now though. NRL 360 can’t ‘analyse’ the decision until Monday now too lol.

Expensive lesson for Radley will cost him around $300k (pre-tax)

I hope that the club will distance themselves from "journalists" such as Chammas in the future over this.

Well said MR. The Smith case and the finals and sanity in general will hopefully ensure it all blows over quickly, as it should.

This is a brilliant decision from the club. Victor is a Rooster if ever there was one. Maybe this might just click him up a gear too.

            So happy.

That’s a huge sanction. Hoping it knocks Rads into a more mature bloke, you’d think so.

Come back rested and tear in next year Derrick.

Excellent outcome. Sanity prevails. A shot across the bow for the rest of the squad too.

Would assume his accountant will certainly use that $30k donation as a tax deduction.

Fletch, I'm a bit confused. Why will it cost Victor 300k?

The 10 game suspension is without pay and his contract is reportedly $750k a season which consists of 24 regular season games. The figure I quoted was the gross pre-tax amount.

The donation is a tax write off.
What happens if Victor gets charged later on for drug possession from the qld coppers from all this cheesey dealing
