he can consider himself a lucky boy.
10 matches seems incredibly excessive but if it's true he lied or didn't disclose the entire situation to the club I would think that cost him an extra few games. Tough lesson for Rads but it could've been worse hopefully this sees him come out firing next year to prove himself to the team.

I don't know that this sort of situation is shocking any more, not for the punters, but of course the clubs themselves would prefer drug free performances. As for parents, they are surely totally familiar with the pitfalls and peccadilloes from their own youths. It's not as though they're Boomers. Oz, I'd suggest has a very drug savvy Gen X.

Apparently the 10 match ban is without pay.

        • consider himself lucky? fmd. some of you have no idea.
sanity prevails. the club has made a statement of where everyone stands and rads remains where he belongs

          • Awful decision. Just get rid of him. Had the perfect chance to do so. He wasn’t very useful when he was playing for us on 700k a year now he’s going to be even useful missing 10 games next year. It’s without pay yes but it’s an internal sanction we get no compensation for it. So dumb. Really playing the full moral card here. Wtf.

            • And the crazy thing is, I bet Brandon Smith gets a smaller penalty from the NRL than what we’ve given our own player. One of the dumbest things I’ve ever seen from this great club.

              • Thank **** for that
Tbh is has been harder then any other club would
and we now don’t have rads for half a season next year
i think more around the lack of comms

however sanity prevails and we can still keep rads and he won’t be sacked
although we see still at a loss technically paying him and not playing him half a season we are hurting ourselves

Agree zac. It’s been a media witch hunt. Yes he did wrong and it’s a terrible look and I hate drugs. But let’s look at Mam, and Addo-Carr and Latrine for starters. Maybe the media can actually now start focusing on the guy who HAS actually been charged.

                  • I'm okay with the decision. They have made a strong statement and can't be accused of backing down. Uncle Nick said, "zero tolerance," not sacked. 10 weeks of no pay plus the $30k is well over $150k, which Rads will be outta pocket. In the long run, I hope he makes a bigger come back. And it sets a predicdent for other clubs and the NRL.

                    • Rads copped a bigger suspension then Ezra mam did who drove while under the influence nearly killing a family
ffs is this isn’t half enough for him allready

The media are on a crusade to get him sacked. The club has stood its ground and said no, we’ll punish him in the harshest way possible instead so do your best at whinging and crusading about that. Other clubs such as the Broncos on the other hand have no qualms about Esra’s little escapades or Latrell’s.

Yeah it’s very harsh. But he’s not sacked and the club / Nick has made a strong statement .

Doubt it. The backlash will be that Easts have gone soft on Rads. While the violins are already playing for Cheese. Morons like Tallis are saying that he hasn't done anything wrong and footy players aren't role models.

There was a hardline policy of sacking anybody caught being associated with that drug in particular.

IMO few people take the p!ss outta Uncle Nick and are given an offer to remain at the club.

                              • Without making any assumptions I believe that the club recognised the probability of internal damage to the playing group if victor had been sacked whilst others got away with no punishment. It could have derailed next season. It wouldn’t surprise me if the leadership group approached management to plea for some leniency on Victor.

I think the right decision has been made. All players will have received a massive wake-up call and hopefully Rads recognises the chance he has been given and works hard to repay it in spades.
